Anyone else have issues with CaliRaised sliders?

I was curious if anyone else on here has had issues with @CaliRaisedLed sliders? I purchased a set in March of 2021. Installed in May of 21. By March the next year the “premium professional powder coat” was almost completely gone. I contacted them regarding this because of their warranty, which according to their website, should defiantly have been covered under for manufacturing defects (nope these have not been beat up offroad and the top is terrible anyways) and got a response saying, “sorry, we don’t warranty that. But we can send you a rattle can to touch up the areas”. Yea, the touch up doesn’t fix the amazing DOM tubing you guys advertise as being so great, that is completely rusting through in areas. Oddly enough, the filler plate on top looks pristine with a great finish and no signs of failing. Tried leaving a review on their website twice. They won’t let you post reviews that are honest, appropriate, professional but are negative in anyway. Makes you wonder how many others have had their honest reviews not posted to keep others in the dark over their quality. I guess for the money and how highly they speak of their products I expected them to last more than a year and to have them at least stand behind their product. I know I’m venting a little too much…but also wanted others to be aware of this. It’s a high price to pay for a failing product after a year…trucks a little dirty but I’ll have some photos too.

 

Why did you let it get so bad? This didn't happen overnight.

"Cali Raised" means the builders have never seen road salt before

But yeah in general powdercoating on armor can be hit or miss, because it's most often an outsourced process. Same armor builder may get good coating one month, and shitty coating the next month because they switched to a different coating shop (usually because the first shop closed down or is backed up several months). This is why many builders, Cali Raised included, don't warranty powdercoating. Oh well, at least you didn't pay a lot for the powdercoating - I see it's only a +$150 option on the Cali Raised web site.

 

That’s….. impressive? Not sure how it started or if it was just bad all around.

I installed these almost exactly 4 years ago and they look the same today as they did then. I few little chips from road debris, but that’s about it. I guess this is the difference between Texas and Wyoming, and Cali-raisedled and another.

 

My GI track has issues with White Castle sliders, is that the same?

I had similar issues but I removed mine (before it got really bad) , stripped the bedliner, grinded rust and repainted with a rattle can. Im happy with it now I can retouch anytime but yes the bedliner was crap.

edit: mine was actually bedlined not powdercoated. still bad

 

3 years on mine - they look great still.

Mine were finished with the bed liner stuff. Not the powder coating.

 

I didn’t “let it get so bad” overnight. It was a year old when I contacted them and was waiting for the weather to change to get them solid pictures. These are the most current photos and how quickly it has progressed since contacting them.

 

Their website says made here in the US sand their metal is claimed to have been sourced in the US as well.

 

Right? Hard to get some companies to stand by their products…

I never thought about it being outsourced, good info right there. I get the road salt plays it’s toll on parts, I’ve been there before. Here in Wyoming they don’t use salt anymore. It’s a sand mix (yea our roads suck but at least you can stop I suppose). The non powder coated areas of my truck don’t even look this bad nor do they on my 15 year old runner. The metal they used for these sliders is starting to rust through as well, not just the powder coating disappearing at a rapid pace. The $150 wasn’t bad to get them coated, but taking them back off, prepping and re-doing is time consuming and more $$$. Thanks for the insight on the outsourcing, I never considered that!

That’s one thing Texas does have going for it. We don’t have salt for our roads. Heck, we’re lucky to have a dozen sand trucks.

Are you in, or close to the I80 corridor? I pass through about once a month, and I'll re-powder your sliders here at my shop just to see how it holds up. No cost to you. You'll just have to remove them and let me know where to pick them up, then update us all here next spring to see how they held up.
