I've been looking around for some clever storage option in an access cab. (I'm pretty jealous of the MOLLE panels I've seen in double cabs, fyi! Wish I had that much space in the plastic behind the seats).

Anyway, I've already got the DeWalt tool boxes under a shelf platform in the back seat, and was thinking about adding some sort of storage or panels on the doors or between the back seats. Just for gear that might need to be accessed quickly while camping or whatever.

So, while trying to figure some things out, I noticed the two coat hooks above the back windows. I had the idea that you could take the screws out, remove the hooks and then attach some sort of mount using the original screw holes. Maybe a MOLLE panel for emergency gear, maybe a first aid kit, or even a gun rack or something if it were sturdy enough.

Before I start just seeing what I can make up, I wanted to make sure I'm not reinventing the wheel here. So, has anyone come up with anything clever reusing those mounting points?

You might try to find a rear interior from a vehicle that came w/o the jumpseats. The name escapes me at the moment. But it really opens up the area.

If you go that route, hold off on the coat hook mod until you see what you really might need.

Whatever you put up top make sure that it's secure. You don't want anything coming loose in an accident and smacking you in the back of the head.

There have been a couple of threads on here over the years about folks replacing them with hooks that were actually useful as opposed to the crappy ones Toyota used that hangers seem to slide right off.
