Has anyone made a DIY bedslide - I have a 2012 longbed tacoma?
Just checking options before maybe ordering one. I'd like to be able to use it to slide out and put my one-man tent on and sleep on it too. I weigh about 175. If you think it is better to just bite the bullet and order a bedslide, then just let me know also. Thanks

    Thanks

I want to say I've seen it around? Been a while. I'll do some digging and see if I can find the thread

Check out Craigslist etc before you spend for new. And don’t be scared away by ones that are a little too wide — the mechanism underneath is usually smaller and you can just cut some of the deck to make it fit the taco bed.

My Bedslide brand kicks the platform up at the end of its travel, which is good for closing but maybe not so good for sleeping.

I’m in the process of building one. Waiting on slides and aluminum to arrive next week.

    Basically copying these two

but making it 72” long on 60” slides for the 6 foot bed.

I’ll probably end up about $450-500 in on it all said and done including a couple tools… could definitely find one used on Facebook or Craigslist for the same or less… the big thing for me was I only want it to take up half the width of the bed, an no one makes a good solution for that.

    Since this is still relevant-

I just about finished mine today.

3/16 aluminum for all the framing. 3x2” for the main angles, 2x2” for the back brace against the bed wall, 2” flat bar for the other braces. Ordered for FastMetals they had the best prices and shipping.

Picked up some drawer slides from Vevor

Tried using 1/2” pvc trim board for the base of the slide, but I don’t think it’s going to work out. Will probably swap to 3/8 or 1/2” plywood. Would love to go diamond plate aluminum… but that’s $$$ and then the whole project is to expensive.

End of the day, I kinda wish I just ponied up and got this one…

I’ve done it two different ways. First, I cut down a Bedslide (both frame and deck), then I had a smaller version custom made.

You can kinda see the spots in the metal frame where I cut and welded it to make it the correct length.

Then I had one built… sure is heavy.
