Anyone DIY their own Camper Shell Reinforcement for Roof Rack?

Hey all,

I just placed an order for a A.R.E Overland Series Camper shell and one of the options I went with was the Roof Rack Tracks. I did that so the Roof Rack track holes are already drilled through.

I do a little bit of MIG welding and figured I could just come up with my own Reinforcement frame that runs along the top and to the sides.

Anyone do something similar?

 

There are a couple of examples on ExPo if you're looking for ideas; I'm too lazy to go search for them though.

I'm going to be doing this using 80/20 aluminum extrusions. I'm in the process of rebuilding an entire topper, so I'm going to document the whole thing.
It will end up similar to the ARE CX internal reinforcements.
