Im planning on color matching some bushwackers on my magnetic grey (1G3) 2014. Was trying to do it myself to save money, one of my buddies told me its one of the worst colors to color match. So im here hoping to see if anyone has succesfully color matched theirs...?

Yes I did with the help of this forum. A bunch of folks have colormatched mgm with the primer in a spray can and the dupli color 1G3. I don't have any pictures on hand but I'm sure some of the other guys will pinch in and show pics.

Every time I have done it it comes out one shade darker than it should... I wish I had the silver bullet answer, but definitely in for someone who has pulled it off!

It’s all about how picky you are for an exact match. There’s actually about a dozen different shades of MGM. I stopped in at a local body shop that is known for their paint quality when I wanted my MGM grill surround better matched and they came out with the paint cards. They all look like MGM on their own but are noticeably different when placed against an existing panel.

There's a decent amount of blue and gold metallic in MGM which makes a match difficult (ignore the dusty pinstripes).

Dusty pinstripes could be the next trendy paint scheme.

Find a Sherwin-Williams Automotive store in your area. I'm sure they could set you up with a match.

They have standard paints for all brands and colors, plus they have color matching equipment. The equipment can account for fade of your original color. Meaning it can match the color after years exposed to the environment, when the original color will not match.

Factory colors usually have 3-30 identified variants. An Axalta ,[formerly Dupont],jobber can punch in your vin # and get the formula # most likely to match. They will also have chip cards of all or most of the variants if you want to pick one yourself.

Automotivetouchup is a good place to get full size cans of paint. I ordered some 1e7 and it matched great 1F235E17-5176-4BF2-8C36-AA3ABA67A86E.jpg

Yes I clearcoated. I couldn't tell you what clearcoat, it was probably duplicolor also. But i believe i did 4-5 layers of primer. 5 or so layers of paint. and 3 or so layers of clear. With a lot of sanding

You could call a used car dealership and ask who they use for their paint repair...
I've been doing it since 89.. so more likely your local Dealerships can give you a contact number...
I do alot of bumper repairs, base coat and clear blends outside...
They may be able to paint it for you also,
1G3 has 7 mixing toners and in my paint system it has 13 variable colors.. a butt up perfect match is almost impossible... but blends well around curves on bumpers blends..
    Hope it helps
