Hey all, this one isn't actually for me. My lil cousin picked up an 03 sr5 for his first truck about 2 years ago and missed some pretty bad rot in the buying process. He sent me this a while back asking for advice. But sadly I'm no welder and have no experience with fixing this kind of thing, or really if it would even be worth it. Either way he's now decided he definitely wants it taken care of if possible.

I've seen the truck in person, and the rest of the frame seemed okay all things considered. No other holes anywhere and it passed the hammer test. But this one spot has a good 6-7" section that's paper thin.

The drivetrain is great, and the body on the thing is super solid. So if it seems feasible he's going to try to have it welded up. And with that said, if anyone knows any good shops around Pottstown, or within a reasonable distance that repairs this sort of thing, I'd be happy to relay it back to him! He's willing to work with just about anyone that's capable of fixing it.

Thanks in advance guys! Hope you all have a good Friday

I’m near Pottstown and am actually going through the same process on my own truck I decided to do it myself with the autorust.com safety caps in that same spot. PA has a wickedly yearly inspection so I’m going to have to find someone who will pass the repair.

autorust.com has a network of installers/repair shops so you might have him look there.

Not exactly what you were asking for but if I hear of anyone I’ll pass it on!

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
If he would be willing to help with the prep work .

I could get the welding done. My problem is crawling in and out from under the truck with my bad knees.

Drop me a message if interested.

About an hour North of Pottstown a few miles From Pa 100 and Pa 309

Much appreciated! He uses the truck for his little side gig so I hate to see him lose it to rust.

Especially with the cost of a replacement right now. Used truck market is still terrible
