I've got a Sony AX5600 that has an HDMI input. I was hoping I could attach a fire stick and use that to cast video from my phone to the head unit. Watch some video on there when I'm stuck in the truck for a while.

Is that possible? Can you even cast from phone to fire stick without being on a home wifi?

And assuming you can, what's the best way to get power to it? The stereo has USB outputs but I'm not sure they're designed to put out sufficient power.

The firestick needs to be on the same wifi network as your phone. So I think if you setup a hotspot on your phone, link the fire stick to that you can then cast to it, but im not 100% sure of that. otherwise you can use a phone to hdmi plug so you can just send the video straight to the headunit without the need of the firestick.

Gotcha. Yeah, I think I might just need to go with a wire to the HDMI then.

Am I the only one that reads these titles wrong. Firestick + Head Unit usually means penicillin is needed.

It’s a stereo, not a home entertainment system.
