i did a search but i didn't find anything.

i am absolutely positive the problem is the AUX jack, it's not the cord. (tried multiple cords, each male end, in multiple things.)

when using the iPod, the signal cuts out, most often switching automatically to CD or FM radio. sometimes i can't get the unit to switch back to AUX. you have to keep moving around the cord, in-n-out until it gets a signal again, then you can switch back to AUX. then 10 minutes later, you get static and it cuts out again.

anybody know what's involved in replacing the female AUX jack?

YEP...but I don't think its the AUX jack. I think it is Aux/CD button or something within the radio itself. Reason I say that is...you should be able to change the radio to Aux mode without having a cord in the jack or even an incoming signal from an iPhone or other device. I know this because when mine started going out on me, I would try to plug and unplug the cord, wiggle it multiple times etc, etc and it would finally change over... but I found that sometimes I could get it to change over by just selecting Aux/CD with the button, without anything plugged into the jack. Prob got progresivly worse over the last 6 months until this am, can't get it go to AUX mode at all, but the CD player still works if I slide one in... Considering changing out the whole unit now to put in something with a nav screen, because I can't go without Pandora radio...was searching for Radio change out mods when I found your initial post.

Hey guys, I just fixed mine last night by soldering some of the connections. Mine wasn't working as well for a long time and finally looked up a youtube vid for it. It works now and doesn't shut off anymore BUT the sound come mustily from the driver side tweeter speaker. Bugs the hell out of me so I'm going to try again, might of just missed a spot with my soldering gun.

^^^^^ This. Had the same issue. Just apply a small amount of solder to all of the connectors. Issue will be corrected.

I noticed there's one spot you don't solder. I did solder I believe all 5 little connections but when I hooked it up there was no sound at all so I took off some solder on one connection and it worked perfectly. Don't mind the mess of solder. [IMG] Hope that helps you out, sorry I didn't take a pic of the fixed aux jack just the one when I soldered all. I highlighted the spot you DONT solder.

Mine does the same thing. Except i can always go back to aux. Even had the plug changed and few days later same shit. I have to hang the cord up over my cb radio and around cb cord. That works until I hit a bump and the cord moves lol

Fixed mine by doing the repair in the video, only soldering the middle two connectors together... took me a few tries and I tested it before putting everything back together but its been about a month now and no issues.

Are the Aux jacks the same on 2014? I only ask, as sometimes I have my iphone plugged in via the Aux, to charge it. At least 3 times since I've had my truck, the sound or music just quit, and I couldn't figure out why? This is on a truck two months old with 4500 miles on it.

Your Aux jack doesn't provide power/charge to the phone. It just input for audio from your phone to the sterio speaker system, but Yes I think Toyota is using the same aux jack units in a wide variety of models/ years. Even if you have it replaced under warranty, its liable to happen again. You must beef up the solder joints.

I think what you are talking about is the USB port under the AUX jack. The AUX jack is just the "headphone" type jack.

I have a 2014 Taco and I have had mixed results plugging my iPhone cable into that port. I have a 3S iPhone, and usually get an error message (factory radio) when connecting with the cable. It will play through the cable, but the audio quality is greatly reduced vs just going the Bluetooth route. Bottom line up front, I am using one of the charging jacks with a USB charger and running Bluetooth. Audio quality is great, battery stays charged, no error messages on the factory display.
