Does anybody use a Dashmat now days? I'm probably not as young as some of you guys on here but these mats were very popular 10 years ago especially on the off-road trucks. It kept the dash from getting dirty and damaged from sunlight. I haven't seen too many in the recent years on anyone's dash. Are these just way out of style now days? I'm not that old!

I use one by Matco and they make the dash look great not to mention the protection. In Hawaii every vehicle I own has one. $.02

There are a handful of members here I've seen that have one. I have nothing against the dash mat. It's more of personal taste if you like em or not. And they will protect the dash from sun damage. Honestly they don't look that bad

I had one in the early 60's, in my 65 Impala... It was real nice Shag Carpeting and went well with the blue lights in the upper windshield corners... .... Never had to dust it...hehe

I have been looking at these not sure I want to pull the trigger on one but I feel I need some kind of protection from this Georgia sun.

Got one on my truck. Have had since a few months old as it is always parked outside. I did not like the shiny finish on it when new so re-sprayed it a with a flat finish material paint.

I bought a car that had a dash mat years ago, and it was very dusty. A normal dash shows dust, a carpeted one just hides it until someone touches the mat and a plume of dust comes out.

The mat may protect the vinyl of the dash from UV, but so does a quick monthly wipe-down with armor-all or similar. I'm personally not a fan, but everyone has different tastes. I've certainly seen worse mods.

I'd consider a dashmat a cosmetic item -- nothing more, nothing less. If it's your taste, all the more power to you.

Live in Hawaii also and all my vehicles have them also. If not, the sun kills the dash. Mine are all from Dash Designs. I even bought one for my work van...LOL helps with the glare.

Back in the day I used armor-all and other conditioners, but after the dash bakes in the sun, all the evaporation from the oils leaves an oily film on the windshield. I still get film on the windshield, but it takes alot longer. I guess I am just used to having a dash cover on my cars.

Armor-all is not good for your dash. I won't go into all the issues I've seen personally because people are going to believe what they want. But I'd suggest some research on the product. I wouldn't use it if it was free. Just my opinion.

A dashmat is a protective item, ugly as hell but I guess you say it's cosmetic, too.

Weird. I've never had that. I live in Atlanta, GA too, which is fairly hot. If that happened to me too, I'd certainly understand the appeal of a dash mat.

Nah, I’ll wait and see if it goes out, and if it does goes out, I’ll come here on TW and ask this awesome community how to fix it and chances are someone will and even has pics on how to do it!

I don't think anyone buys a dashmat for looks. It's more about protection to the dash from the sun. I think they're ugly as hell but not as ugly as a cracked or faded dash. And god forbid using Armor-all. That shit will ruin a dash in just a few years.

Valid, I've heard the same. Since we're going that far into the weeds, I use Weiman leather wipes on the interior. Anything is better than nothing, though.

One of our vendors needs to come up with an updated, cool dash Matt, if that's possible.

No details needed here, I do know lolo!

I just use a damp cloth on dash if no stains and there shouldn't be any as nothing gets to be put on there except for my radar detector.
