Sure, but isn’t new Tacoma supposed be “new and improved”. All this added power?

:)I have zero intention of buying a 4th Gen. My truck is pretty much perfect for me and does everything I ask it to. I’m keeping it till the wheels fall off.

I was excited for the 4th Gen because im a Toyota fan but im pretty disappointed with what im seeing. I will test drive a MT 4G just for shits but that’s as far as I’ll go.

    Towing, nothing special.
Towing MPGs, trash just like 3rd Gen.
    Normal driving MPGs, nothing special.
Longer wheelbase and same ground clearance = fail in my books.
    Back seats still cramped.
    Price?

Interior and exterior looks like a toy to me. And whats up with the rear bed side?

    IMG_3691.jpg

They added ridiculous “arcade racing game” seats to the PRO too…

PRO has wider stance but no extended travel. Yeah, “new and improved”

The 2.4T will rev, but it doesn't need to with the forced induction. I'm still breaking it in, but without any effort I'm at freeway speeds and so far I haven't broken 3k rpm. We have a lot of grade here in the mountains. I'm really happy with the engine. Also if the turbo ever needs service, it's really easily accessible.

Here's some really good info on this engine. Including peak torque rpm range. Very rarely should this engine ever need to get over 3600 rpm to do it's job.

My engine barely goes over 3600 RPMs to do the job :)

Actually barely goes over 3K and my truck is not stock.

I tow 3K all the time with my 3rd Gen and once you learn its characteristics, the V6 does it just fine. When not towing, my truck lugs at 1200 RPM every chance it gets, but I'm used to it. Still think six is better than four over the long run given the nearly identical MPG profiles, but the hybrid could be a different story.

Love that color on the TRD OR, this is in the top running for the spec I want.

Thanks for posting this, card looks high quality and it is good to know you have the key to unlock the doors in case it goes dead. (Probably just hold it near the push button to start like when a normal key fob goes dead)

Must of been one the Chicago auto show videos, Toyota has this simulator for the ISO seat. Why? no one is going to drive the truck the same way the simulator throws the seat around, not with out rolling the truck and triggering the airbags. When you buy the truck you are now paying for a portion of the unrealistic simulator to advertise these seats. If Toyota didn't waste so much money adversting the best selling midsize, that could bring the overall price down. Instead a 2dr SR5 4x4 has an MSRP of $45,000.

I believe the real upgrade in powertrain over the 3rd Gen will be with the hybrid power numbers.

I tow my teardrop trailer with my 155hp first gen with a bike in the back and rarely if ever get above 3400rpm.

That said, my bet is that third gen owners will say a 3rd Gen will do the job far better.

Uh oh...first 4G to be parted out...? :anonymous:

I see the 4G will get about as much defroster coverage on the wipers as 3G!

Buuuuut I might have to check out those wiper arms for interchange, the offset at the end would probably bump the blade position up enough to get a lot more heat than it does currently on the turds.

The new truck no longer accelerates off the line like a hot turd, and the interior no longer looks like a 90's afterthought. Of course looks are subjective, but the numerous people who have come up to ask me about my truck think it looks cool. I think it looks cool too.

Ha, all of that would get ripped out to replace a broken windshield anyway. Just cosmetic after further investigation with water, dye and UV lights.

The whole rear window assembly is covered in defroster grid array. I wonder if they did the same thing under the front where the wipers rest.

    I really like the look

Dude needs to be happy with his 3rd gen and give it up. 4th Gen is a nice truck, don't need to knock it to feel better about yourself

I don't see the usual heating element brownish gold squiggles..doesn't mean they're not there, but I don't think I saw wiper defrosters listed as a feature/available feature.

TW.. where 4G owners go to justify their purchases to 3G owners (and even some who dont and have never owned a Taco)! Lol this place is something else. It's either trudging thru pages of irrelevant posts about every topic except the 4G taco or straight up bashing. When I ever get mine I'll be sure to practice my self hatred here.

I have to admit, it does look good in this color. I also like the lifted silver one with black wheels and rear rack they were showing at a demo. I never liked the huge front and grille on the 3g, so it’s an improvement there.
