Anybody ruin their seats from sliding in and out?

Im 5'11. My Tacoma is that awkward height where I cant just drop into the seat, but Im too tall to actually climb on my nerf bar and step in. I usually just kind of slide up and into the seat. Getting out is worse, I can only seem to just slide out of the seat sideways a few inches until I touch ground. My question is....has anyone (after 3-5 years) of getting in and out of their truck, worn holes or bare spots or crushed the cushioning in their seats? Are their any cures? Im not a big fan of seat covers, but I want to stop any damage before it happens.

I know this may sound petty, but badly worn cloth seats are such a detriment when it comes to resale.

I have owned mine for about a year, and is already showing signs of wear. I'm in the same height range as you and that is exactly how I get in and get out. I have thought about taking it to an upholstery place and have them reinforce that section with a thougher fabric of the same color and texture or just go thick leather on it.

My '08 has a hole in the seat cushion on a seam where doing just what you do has been done, granted, the truck has 257k on it, but the primary operator of the vehicle over its lifetime was 6'3" and 350ish as am I .

I've got a salvage yard looking for a seat for me, seems these trucks don't get junked much, and those that do are in pretty sorry shape.

If there is one gripe I have is the door opening is a bit too short, but I find that with most vehicles.

Seat wear is a issue with resale especially if trading it into a dealer, trust me. When I bought the Tacoma I ordered Wet Okole and have had them on since.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
At the rate that I change seats out on my old beater I don't think I'll ever wear anything out.

OEM covers in near new shape can be bought on here for $200 pretty regularly.

That's 3 OEM sets for 1 Wet Okole set, price for price.

    Just food for thought.

I'm pretty hard on seat covers in the winter when I fish certain areas and drive to different locations with wet waders on. I'd rather have something that cleans up easy, adds protection, and sets the truck apart.

I try not to worry about stuff like that. It can be easily replaced in the future if/when it's ever needed. Don't sweat the small stuff. You'll drive yourself crazy. :goingcrazy:

Sure. Replying to your post but only on the matter of resale, not your choice of covers.

I wanted WOs, but glad I didn't go that route. For the price of aftermarket covers, even lowly brands, OEMs are available secondhand and I was just tossing that out there as a feasible and economical option for those worried about seat wear. :)

I have actually even worn my wet okoles from sliding in and out. Where the lumbar support knob is located is where my wear issues are isolated to...they should have placed the knob lower, done away with the feature, or made it electronic if you ask me...poor engineering on Toyotas part!
