The rear and back windows on the 2024/5 Tacoma look somewhat dark in Toyota's photos. I presume this is "in the glass" and not a film. I don't know if it's the same factory tint on all trim levels, but has anyone measured the VLT of the back and rear windows with a meter?

I presume this is a 50-state legal VLT level considering the wide differences in laws on VLT levels in the 50 states, and you can't reduce it by removing a film.

I'll take a wild guess until someone posts a measurement, and say I think the factory VLT is 55%. If you want to get to say 35%, is it correct that you just multiply the stacked VLTs, or in other words you'd need to add a 63% VLT film to the 55% factory to get 35%? Finding a 63% film is a separate question; there might not be any and you'd have to use 70%.

It’s been a while but I want to say it was around 35 when I had My tint done

and yes you multiply, so if you have 35 dye and u put a 50 tint it will total to like 17-18

The film install comapany measured mine at 26 prior to installing 20% on front windows. The end result is a very close match.

I also got 20 on the front and it seems to be the closest match.

Same here, 20% ceramic on the front and left the rears alone. If you really pay attention you can tell a difference when sitting inside in a sunny day between the front and the rears but it is more than close enough to make me happy.

I told the shop to match front to back. Also ceramic. Hmm?

I believe most states limit what you can have on the front windshield. Or even do not allow.

I removed what Toyota had on the front doors and went with 15%. Also put 15% on top of what was on the rear doors and back window. That now measures at 3%.

In california, we cant have tint on side front doors at all, or on windshield at all....
Can only have a 6" strip across top of windshield...
I dont know about the rest of cali but in San Diego, 2 out of every 3 cars on the road has their entire front windshield tinted minimum 50%....
Needless to say, enforcement is very minimal...

That's because nobody in CA cares anymore. Even the cops.

You can have tint on the front side windows, it just has to have 70% visible light transmission

The shop that tinted my front windows metered the rears around 25-26% VLT if I'm remembering correctly. I went with 35% on the front windows and they are slightly lighter than the rear windows.
