Anybody know housing off base Ramstein AB?

Hi, I am going to Ramstein AB end of May2023 to start a new job there.

We are still looking for accommodation there (2 humans and 3 dogs). The dogs are the main issue. Seems hard to find anything with more than 2 dogs.

Anybody have contact details to pet friendly folks renting out apartments or houses inside 30-40mins drivetime around the main gate there? Not the military housing (TLF/TLA etc.), private from the economy outside.

You will likely need cash and a realtor. They do rental finding different there. The homes registered exclusively through the base are typically high turnover rentals. Strict rules, constant turnover. We went a few miles out to Reichenbach-Steegen, and found an amazing home without all of those restrictions. The catch is that one months rent gets paid to the realtor for finding it. My advice is to try and set aside some extra money in case this is what you have to do to find a place. Also don't get any more dogs. Half of the overseas bases in terms of flights and lodging restrict to two. We adopted out over a hundred 3rd dogs that were left behind at Landstuhl from military families rotating.

 

I know a lot of Ramstein folks commute about 30 minutes for good housing in the smaller towns.
The BX is a mad house on weekends. Every American in Germany is there eating at the food court.
