The Leigh D4 is probably the best dovetail jig you can get.

I just want to see what others think about this, I’m planning on building two small shelf units that are approximately 11” deep, I can buy sugar pine in 1” X 12” , I’m worried about warping/cupping if I use it like that, am I overthinking things as I’m wondering about cutting the board down the middle, flipping one side over and gluing it back together so that the rings will be opposite each other. What do you guys think?

My first attempt at a chair that did not look like it was designed in Minecraft. First of two for the back patio. Solid California Redwood. Parts for #1 are cut and starting to assemble. Already learning a lot!! Time will tell if it works out or ends up in the fire pit.

Yeah, I’ve drooled over those for years, but then I learned how to hand cut dovetails. My production is low enough that I’ll just stick to hand chopping them at this point.

I always meant to do some project with redwood that wasn't meant for outside. It's got great grain and color, but I never see anyone use it (aide from slab tables).

Progress was made and lessons were learned.

Still need to attach the arm rests, lower seat extension, sand and finish. However, I am feeling good about how it is coming out so far.

I like that chair. My girl would be all over making cushions for that.

Beautiful work, the chair is real easy on the eye - looks inviting to take a seat. What type of finish are you considering?

Yes. I bought a set of plans off Etsy and am modifying them as I go.

    https://www.etsy.com/listing/1341434332/mid-century-modern-lounge-chair

I used the plans to make a template, cut out a rough using a jig saw, and used a nasty carbide flush trim bit to final shape the legs and arm rest pieces. My spindle sander cleaned up the joints. All of the straight cuts were on the table saw or miter saw.

I successfully turned a pine 1x10 into a euro mount plaque. Does that make me a woodworker? :anonymous:
