    Well I went to woodcraft today to look at sanders. The festool black hole kinda sucked me in. So I talked with one of the sales guys for a bit about the stuff. Definitely very expensive! But I may end up purchasing some of their corded stuff in the future. I saw a 5" sander I liked, $400 ish, a vacuum at $800 ish, and of course the domino, smaller one was $ over a grand ish.
    And the guy gave me a 2021 catalog, was all he had.

    Man this is a deep black hole!

    I wonder if they might come out with a cordless domino. A lot of my work is on site so i could see the advantage but i think they need dust collection to clean out the mortise? In that case im already plugging in a vac so whats one more tool. Im nearly cordless otherwise.
    Anyone check out the lamello zeta p2?
    Makes the domino look reasonably priced

    I'm not sold yet , I think some tools still make sense corded . They discontinued the corded CT-SYS last year and I had to scour to find a demo model at Felder in Manitoba because I really didn't want the cordless model

    Yea the vac is definitely a high demand tool. Even the new 40v makitas dont have great runtime from what ive read. But cordless would be nice for miter, tablesaw, domino type tool dust collection. I like that festool has the button right at the end of the hose

    Might be cheaper to buy the clips than the 3D printer lol

    I bought my printer just to try the tech, but i’m positive that I’ve more than paid for it in savings from the things I’ve printed. That has surprised me bigly.

    Not to derail the wood working thread, but are you printing things found online already or have you gotten into scanning and customizing prints? I'm really looking for information down the customization route.

    I’ve been just downloading files, but if you know the basics of CAD, I’m sure it would be simple enough to create your own files.

    Thank you for the reply... not skills I have yet, but I am willing to learn. Back to the wood!

    I'm still having a very hard time justifying the cost of festool. I do see myself buying the domino at some point in time. But I just can't justify the added cost of their sanders and dust extractors for a hobbyist when ther are plenty of cheaper and quality alternatives out there. Now if I was a pro and doing wood working for a living it might be different. But as a 63 year old hobbyist I just struggle with the expense.

    About to finish cleaning up two glue-ups for a laser engraved portrait and a challenge coin retirement plaque for a Chief I was stationed with. Also lasered a doo dad on the cover of a keepsake box im finishing up. Wish I was told prior to the glue-up instead of a week later so I couldve made the image bigger but once the edges were on I had to make it small enough for the laser head to fit inside the recess without bumping anything. :goingcrazy:

    I’m 62. :spending::spending::spending::spending::spending:

    btw, check Festoolrecon.com regularly. They resell warrantied return items for typically 25% off.

    Glad all the screws lined up. Unsure why some people griped about assembly. Pretty easy

    Anyone want to buy an unmolested Kreg insert plate?

    Price is crazy. I’ve been back and forth for a bit. My father and I both enjoy woodworking as a hobby so I think it will be a good purchase but the price is tough to swallow. Nothing is quite like it either so it’s a full commit. My other concern is the tool will be as impressive as advertised and I’ll be all in on the Festool brand which sounds dangerous haha
