Hi , just wanted to ask. Is there any way to inspect clutch condition on my 2004 Tacoma? Truck is for sale, clutch is going strong in 128k miles no issues. Buyer is trying to lowball, I am just curious if there is way to prove clutch condition on my truck. Thanks for any feedback!

Don't think so without taking it all apart. I changed mine (first time) in my 04 last summer with 220k and it could have gone a lot longer.

Can't check it, as long as there's no indication of slippage, burning smell and no throw-out bearing noise you are ok.

Throw out bearing will chirp when you let off the pedal correct?

mine does, has been doing it for a long time. Clutch Slipping is really the only way to indicate the clutch is about to give the ghost.
These are pretty tough and agrarian transmissions. They clunk, whine and shift hard when working perfectly fine.

Tons of people want these trucks tell the dude to pound sand

Yes, however I wouldn't get too stressed out by a little throw-out bearing noise. Mine started chirping quite a while back, then just stopped about a year ago.
I will replace if/when the clutch starts slipping.

Thank you all for replies. OneWheelPeel is taking first price for this comment :D. I sold my truck this weekend and did not allow any low balling - it took me 7 days and I had multiple buyers. My truck was very mint and drove/looked like champ even after 16 years and 128k miles. Sadly I had to upgrade to 4-door newer Tacoma 2nd gen. because my family got bigger. No Tacomas are build as tough as 1st gen trucks. I am going to miss mine.
