been looking into different lift kits, so I can fit a bigger tire on the truck.
I saw that Rough Country has a 3in lift kit, anyone have experience with this kit?

Are you talking about the spacers or the one that comes with new struts?

Stay away from Junk Country at a minimum do Bilstein 5100's with an AAL in the back, and OME or Eibach coils up front.

I don't know much about lifts yet, but what conversation I have read around TW is not favorable to Rough Country.

I have one. I’ve never had a lifted truck so have nothing to compare it to but I don’t really off road it’s more for looks and it’s been fine.

What are you plans for usage? Any off roading in your future?

TW fails to understand everyone has a different purpose for their trucks. If you believe the hype you’ll be running Kings and a new leaf pack set at the tune of $4,000+.

3” up front is going to cause alignment problems. Another $500 on upper control arms will help with that. But based on the lift I’m guessing you are trying to keep it cheap. Generally it seems that 2” is the safe range for not needing UCAs. Let us know your budget and intended use and you’ll probably get plenty of recommendations on something better.

the most "off roading" I would do is going to the ranch and taking it around the property, but I have a four wheeler for that.
it is mostly cosmetic, so I can fit a bigger and better set of tires on it.

I have a buddy that is giving me a set of BFG K02's (285/70/16 I think) and I don't want the chance of rubbing at all.
so this options is much better than a simple 2in leveling kit

With 285s you’re going to probably have a chance of rubbing with a 3” too. This seems like one of those instances where you’re not going to get to have your cake and eat it too.

    true

I just got the truck a week ago, so all this is new to me.
I've had a GMC Sierra for the longest time, and I went all out and did a 7.5in lift and didn't really have to worry about tires rubbing or anything like that.
went to a Tacoma so its easier on the trails and commute to work

but I understand what you're saying, a 285 is a wide tire for a Tacoma

It’s not a deal breaker. It’s just going to take a few extra steps to prevent the rubbing.

Or you end up buying what everyone says will work, then end up spending the money twice to put in what you should have in the first place.

I've only used my 4 wheeler to drag elk out since i got my new taco. Something about ac and heat being way better than the 4 wheeler or side by side.

Once again, each persons needs are different. Some will never use their trucks hard enough that it was worth spending on anything other than a spacer lift. Some guys push their LT to the limit. Most fall somewhere in between and since we don’t all have bottomless pockets there’s no point in buying something you don’t need.

Same reason Toyota sells 2wd, Prerunner, SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD OR, TRD Pro and Limited. Everyone has different needs, expectations and budgets.

Although I do agree. I also use my truck over my ATV any time the situation allows.

I'm a complete Mall Princess and have been on OME 887's on 5100's for a few years but just bought all new Front and Rear Extended Travel Kings as that's what I wanted whether I need them or not. But even if my truck sat in the driveway and never moved I would never put spacers on it

Why? Because TW said it’s not cool and your truck would spontaneously combust?

But really....I’m super jealous of your new suspension.

If you really plan on putting some offhighway mileage on your truck a good set of coilovers from a reputable brand are unbeatable. But if you're on a budget or rarely see dirt bilsteins are great.
