I assume there is no reason not to go with the slightly larger tire, but thought it worth asking others rather than to assume that my assumptions are correct.

The standard tire for the SR5 model is 245/75R16. The standard size for the TRD Off Road is 265/70R16. The 265/70 tire has a circumference 0.3% more and it is 0.8" wider. My SR5 is 4WD. Both the SR5 and TRD Off Road show a 7" wide wheel. I am planning to put on Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires. Any considerations I am overlooking? Thanks.

Consider putting 265/75/16 for an awesome look!

Solid tire. 0 need to upsize. 265/70 or 245/75 I'd go the cheapest route anyway.

I did exactly that on my 2014 SR5 and there were 0 issues encountered.

Like others have said, go 265/75R16 (~32” tire). They will fit fine without rubbing and look way better.

I would fo with the 265/70 since it would have little effect on the rear end gear ratio. With the 265/75 tires the effective gear ratio would change from 3.90 to around 3.75 to 1.

Go with it !!! I Did last year with that same tire in that 265/70 - 16 tire Michelin Defender also ! Looks and drives great ! Screw the 75 , go with the wider 70 tire !

255/75/17 do you want a fat look or ground clearance. Just my .02 cents. I'll take ground clearance all day long. But again you may use your truck differently.

265/75/16 is the way to go

I have them on my truck and they're perfect. I have a 1.5 inch lift all around and the tires were fine before my lift. I have some pics in my build thread

To the OP: check out this website that I found on TW. It has nice visualizations too. I'm in the same position as you as to wheel/tire combos. I also have a DC SR5 4x4

Thanks everyone. I have ordered a set in size 265/70, Costco has them on sale currently, by far the best price available in the area.

Been running 265/70 16's tires over a year now on my 2020 sr5. Really don't see any difference from the stock size tires that came on it.

265/70/16 comes from the factory on some trucks. It is same diameter as 245/75/16. Just about 3/4" wider. Most people go to 265/75/16 if they upsize. It will be about 1" taller and 3/4" wider than your 245/75/16's. In my experience 265/75/16/s have more options and are generally cheaper than 265/70/16.

265/75 R16’s are a great size for the 3rd Gen Tacoma.

I would guess 265/75 16's are heavier than the 70's also. Many i believe are E rated to. I never liked running tires the manufacture hasn't listed for a particular vehicle.

265/75/16 and don't look back. If you're worried about daily comfort, stay P or SL rated and steer clear of E rated/10 ply tires.
