There is a guy on the T4G forum who took a 1000 mile road trip (not towing) in his '24 TRD OR. He reported 17.5 MPG round trip. Ouch!

However, if you were comparing the 3.5L Highlander to the 2.4L T Highlander, the 2.4L mileage
has been worse, so that number isn't too surprising.

Anyone else have mileage to report on their '24?

    At 85 mph.

I was hoping he was tracking fillups via Fuelly or something but I didn’t see him mention an online archive of that data.

He has an ID here, too.

So far 24 according to the computer. I'm only 3 days and 225 miles into it. Combination of mountain roads at 25-55 mph and freeway at 65-75. I drive the speed limit and accelerate reasonably.

And got over 20 at 75. Seems decent to me. Not great and I still think the smaller tank hurts, but 20 MPG @ 75 MPh is better than my 3rd gen could do.

I checked Fuelly.com. So far no 2024 owners are logging miles, gallons, price, etc. I am not really surprised.

We're reaching peak mpg with ice powertrains without electrification. Small turbos don't do much better for MPG than conventional powertains. Manufacturers are going that way because they emit less particulates and have to meet mandated goals years out.

TFL got 24 mpg highway unloaded on their road trip. I think that's pretty impressive.

I had a 5.7 V8 Tundra for a long time in the past. I'm at the point where "it is what it is" on mileage. Better than 13 is good enough for me! Can you believe they released that monster with a 26 gal tank, with about 22 usable? I spent more time at the gas station than a tesla owner at a charging station in a snow storm.

He also said 20 mpg at 75 Mph. It’s helpful to see what people get at realistic highway speeds. We’ll see what other owners say.

Bottom line: better than any 2023 model.

I will never understand people who want pick up trucks with good MPG and economy.. go buy a prius or rav4...

I guess wanting to spend less money on gas just makes no sense.

It is an idea I kick around though of getting a high MPG commuter and just using the old 1st gen for truck stuff.

Right... better to have truck that under performs as long as you save few hundreds I guess. But hey, I forgot trucks now days are not trucks anymore. Other than American trucks which still have horrible MPG. Yet so much power to build roads and infrastructure you use and drive on.

But you technically don't really save, since you will be paying over 50K for 4cyl economy piece of trash, its luxury car now, no more pick up TRUCK.

I'm not using fuelly. I have my own spreadsheet.

    miles gallons average mpg
    5
    274 14.59 18.43728581
    491 12.36 17.5566343
    722 13.78 16.76342525
    937 11.98 17.94657763
    1151 13.03 16.42363776

    1151 miles /65.73 total gallons=17.5mpg average

Yup. Trying to average 85 mph. Sometimes slower, sometimes faster.

Seems like I'm getting about 20.5mpg at 75mph

That’s pretty dumb. Why would you want to waste more money and more gas?
