I think I need another battery. I replaced my oem with a Northstar and got 3 1/2 years out of it. The warranty replacement is now dead after about a year, but it's only dead sometimes.

I have had an on-board noco charger for the life of this battery and the truck is plugged in when not driven. The last 'dead' battery was while it was plugged in. I had to wake up the battery with my larger noco charger and the the battery tested fine then. Do I have another defective battery?

If you only got 3 1/2 yrs out of a Northstar battery, why would you want to replace with another northstar?
    Aren’t they over 300 bucks?

After looking at the receipts I am slightly past the 5 year mark. I will see if they provide a another one but the way the warranty usually works is they don't. The first one lasted just shy of 4 years after checking the receipt. The warranty replacement lasted 14 months. I don't plan on getting another NorthStar given I have gotten two bad ones. My concern was that their quality has gone down hill. I have a fairly new one in my wife's car so I am hoping that one doesn't go south as well.

5 years for $336 is insane. I get over 5 years from the Advance Auto gold ones in my Tacoma and they're still good, but I change them to not risk a breakdown far from civilization. The one in my car is over 7 yrs old and still going.

if you're somewhere like AZ where it's insanely hot, then 5 yrs is a good life, but otherwise...

It's possible its the truck but not probable. I've tested for parasitic draws and there arent any. The alternator is putting out the correct voltage for charging.

I also have a 2amp onboard charge installed and leave it plugged in when not in use. The truck sat for 1 week with the 2 amp charger connected when I went to start it last night it was dead. The keyfob wasnt even able to open the doors (nothing in the truck is on). I gave it a quick jump charge with a noco 15000 and started it. It ran for about 5 minutes and did another test of the battery and it was testing good. It randomly tests good/bad so I think there is something internally wrong with the battery.

Maybe your charger is the problem? Something not grounded. I leave my truck at the airport for a week in the middle of winter and she always starts

Its possible but when I checked for parasitic draw the charge was still hooked up and I wasn't seeing the draw. I was at .01 Amps

Its the Northstar 27F so its a flat plate AGM. The charger is the Noco Genius 2D which is good for AGM.
