the specific instance I noted, his WeatherTech ones were super tight for some reason. the tightest we had ever encountered in our shop. we tint all of his vehicles so I am sure he let the film cure before he started rolling the windows down. his was the worst case, and most frequent we have encountered. we have had some other vehicles, not just Tacomas do the same thing with in channels. so, I can't say 100% it will happen to each and every vehicle out there that has in channel vent shades. but, since it is likely, we stopped giving a warranty on our tint with in channels. obviously, the more you roll the window up and down the more chances of it happening because each time it rolls up in the channel the pressure can cause it to happen.

on another note, not only can they cause issues with tint but if you don't keep them and your windows clean they can scratch the upper outside edge of your window. we have also seen that a lot too. but, I am sure most of us like our trucks enough that we clean them on a regular basis. so that is less likely to happen.

When my truck came in, the prior dealership had tinted the windows. I put the in channel AVS visors on mine a week after picking it up. No problems so far.

I have Weathertechs and Llumar tint and have had zero issues with either.
I’ve had Weathertechs on my last 4 vehicles and wouldn’t buy anything else.
Also, when I had my windows tinted I asked if the in channel visors would cause an issue and the tint installer said they never have problems with them.

I too have the in channel AVS and the logo will come right off. A little 0000 steel wool, maybe some solvent and just in case your wondering the bug shield logo has to be slightly sanded and polished to a gloss. Did both of mine, everyone ask where I got them from, they think its a Toyota factory part.

Also, the in channels fit perfect, they go under the molding around the window, right. So the window tint is on the inside of the door glass, right. So there is no way for the vent visors to come in contact with the tint. Been on my truck since Feb. no issues and other vehicles I have owned and never one single issue. Don't use any that clip on from Weathertech, they will blow off and you cannot buy just one visor.

I have the AVS in channel visors and haven't had any issues. Worse thing is having to roll windows down to fully clean glass that is obscured by the visors. Had all my windows tinted after purchase and tint should ALWAYS be on the inside of the glass. No way the vent visors ever touch the tint.

I noticed the weatherstripping that the visors stick to is pretty soft and pliable on our Tacomas.
I suspect this helps absorb the minor added thickness of the vent visors.
Other vehicles may have harder rubber and/or tighter glass/weatherstrip tolerances.

I think we are perfectly fine with tint + AVS visors on our Tacomas. Cant speak for other brands though.

ok guys, sorry I shared our experiences.

and for the record, YES the tint always goes on the inside of the windows.

like I said before, I hope y'all don't experience issues down the road. but it is a possibility. thats all I was saying.

I've had AVS in channel vent visors almost since I bought my truck in April of 2016. I'm past 60,000 miles now. I drive with my windows down some. I'm always rolling my window down to badge in for work.......

No real issues. Only on occasion do I get a kazoo sound from a very strong cross wind due to the vent visors acting like a reed.

Don't be sorry, this is what the forum is about. Your experience may help someone in the future. I have used AVS visors on all my vehicles and I have a set ready to install on my Tacoma. I can tell you this, on the Rav4 every once in a while temperature dependent if you hit the auto up on the window sometimes it will go up and sense restriction and go back down. I do not have tint on the front windows but I could see it being an issue if its that tight. I have not decided if I will tint the Tacoma windows yet or not, but I will tell you that I will leave the visors on for a year to see how it acts in different temps before tinting now.

I have AVS on my '16 Taco truck after a month since new going on almost 3 years now with tinted windows and I roll them all the time no issues.
I seldom drive with them open at highway speeds and I do get the kazoo sound with cross winds, although I believe that's got more to do with the vehicle and not AVS.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

I have AVS’s- only issues are after dust storms or driving behind others on dusty roads - windows sound scratchy when raising or lowering in the visor- Im worried it will scratch the window tops and have felt like pulling them off, put the windows look ok still.

Your dealer has concerns, but likely flawed....

    - not specific to the brand of vent.
    - not specific to the Tacoma.

The advice on this forum is specific to the Tacoma and incorporates the owners experience, with the specific brand of product.

My experience = No issues with tint, no issues with fit/staying in place.
