    hi
    i have a 1999 tacoma wth 175k that is giving me a 402.
i replaced the O2 sensors and temp sensor etc etc. and know my manifold
    is done..a few cracks..
i cant decide who to buy the manifold from ,seems ebay and rockauto units are poor quality and yotatech kits is over 325..
    is there a middle ground?
    thnx

is it a 2wd or 4wd? what engine does it have?

without this info anything we say is useless info

if you have the 2.4 (2rz) or 2.7 (3rz) engine then go get a stock steel header from 02-04 truck at the salvage yard or just buy one new, they are true headers, just oem versions and IMHO they are better then anything you go buy in aftermarket.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Keakar is right when it comes to price to performance, the stock 02-04 mini header is the cheapest least likely to break stock option. For better torque from farther exhaust scavenging I'd go with the LCE header, it also includes a new bung for the O2 sensor and replaces the secondary downpipe which you may have also cracked. If you are cool with the stock performance then the mini header would be fine, the LCE header isn't too much more and the guys at LCE will generally work with you on the price if you give them a call on the phone.

now i gotta figure which route to go.
the kit looks nice a bit pricey but if it fits in
like a glove and is complete it might be my choice.
i dont need speed as my 20 mile commute can take me 90 minutes..

It's a good idea to have spare/replacement studs and nuts incase the stocks are bad but I cannot find the numbers. Maybe someone can chime in.

I've ordered from that dealer many times, they are great to work with. They have free shipping over $100 as long as it weighs less than 20lbs. They also have a 10% off code partznet10

I believe the gasket from a 2004 will work. It makes sense to me that you would want the one that matches the new header. Someone else may have more info.

im pretty sure the exhaust gaskets are the same for all 96-04 models and for both the 2.4 and 2.7 engines

I would suggest you add washers under the exhaust nuts, when I did mine I had concerns the nuts may have been bottoming out on the studs but it sealed ok. if I were to do it again I would definitely add a washer behind them just for peace of mind that it stayed sealed over the long run.

Does anyone have a good link to pictures or a video that could help with new header and exhaust install on the 2.7L 3RZ-FE?

I know this is an old thread, but just to throw another plus, I agree with the LCE long tube header kit. I installed mine close to a year ago and I can feel the difference in towing my trailer. No, it's not like it added 30HP or anything like that, but before I installed it the torque when in the city was just not really strong. Now I can tow without having to floor the gas.
