    Anybody have any good hauls from the junkyard for your tacos? Been seeing a lot of part outs and got me thinking about the junkyard finds that could be out there. From leather seats, to tail lights, and headlights. Most if not all with minor damages that I’ll probably be ok with dealing with looks wise.

    These trucks typically end up in full service yards so it's not like you're going to score a Dana 60 like you did at Pick n Pull back int the day for hundy as the wife asks what the fuck happened to the washing machine and shower because of all the filth you had to wash off your clothes and body. I mean never mind that you forgot to wash your elbows and when you climbed into bed you got grease on the LL Bean sheets. Fucking savages

    All the self service yards near me only take cars 10 years or older, everything 10 years and newer go to the closed yards that pull the parts them selves and sell them for big money.

    Am I the only one who gets depressed going to wrecking yards? I dunno, maybe it's because I'm a car guy who really likes his cars (er, truck in this case) but every time I've walked into a self-serve yard I guess I feel bad that at one time all those cars were shiny, new and probably loved and then something went wrong and there they are. Yeah, I know it's weird :rolleyes:

    One day I went to the local pull a part and saw this;

    Wife's car for 15 years. Sold it to a young woman, a year later there it was. Always wondered what happened.

    Wow! Seeing a car I used to own like that would kill me! Again though I guess I get pretty attached to my vehicles (I still have and regularly drive my first truck which I got back in High School in the mid 90's).

    Nissan Maxima? Those were good cars back in the 1990s. Too bad Nissan got together with Renault and now makes garbage with CVTs that explode by 100k or less.

    Yeah, it's a bad feeling. I traded in my '04 Jeep GC (lifted, lots of work went into it) for a new GC (Hemi!). A few months later I saw my '04 at the local pick-and-pull totaled.
    Apparently a few weeks after I traded it some kid bought it and rolled it within a week at highway speeds (he was OK, BTW). It was sad to see something I'd put so much work into totaled.

    I totally understand that. I was very happy that the last time I sold a vehicle a guy who lives 100 miles from me bought it.

    I used to go to salvage yards when I was younger, had less cash and drove older cars, there was one in my town I went to often and got all kinds of things. one of those times I was looking for used tires for an 85 escort for my brother so he could drive it again after culinary school. I got 4 tires nearly new on escort rims off the pile of tires pulled before they crushed the cars, the price $1 each!

    One thing I would like to find for my new truck is the trim thats to the left of the steering wheel off a 16-19 Tacoma. that cubby was a nice place you could mount the trailer brake controller and they took it away for 2020.

    If you have a blank switch, Redarc is a good choice. Just use one of their Toyota switch adapters to mount the little knob. Or, MESO has a custom panel for the Tekonsha https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/custom-switch-panels.533747/page-91#post-23983116

    I have a Tekonsha Primus QI that works great I took out of my Jeep. I just don't want to drill holes in the lower dash to mount it. it also seems silly to buy a new one and spend money on something I have already.

    edit
    that panel looks cool but that's very customized for the P3. the PrimusIQ is smaller and doesn't have that lever to manually activate the brakes, its got a big button on the right face of the unit and a more simple display and controls.

    I think it would fit in the old cubby if I cut the back to fit the wire and relocated my traction control switch.
