Any chance of putting 4Runner heated steering wheel components on Tacoma

2023 4Runner upper trims now have heated steering wheel from factory.

Because Tacoma and 4Runner steering wheel look almost identical, maybe heated steering wheel components from 4Runner can be just plug and play for Tacoma too?

 

I bet the steering wheel will bolt on, but there is no reason that toyota would put a heated wheel circuit in any of the past year tacomas and not put a heated wheel in any of them. Maybe down the road when it is offered in the tacoma high trims, lower trims might be pre wired but not equipped.

 

Interesting since the tacoma has been about 2 years ahead of the 4runner as far as tech goes (2018 had adaptive cruise 4runner didn't get it until 2020) 2018 taco had blindspot 4runner didn't get it until 2022 so you would think tacoma would have the heated wheel first. Rav4 had it for years

 

It would be wild expensive, the 2022 4runners had major back logs with steering wheels, some limiteds were shipped without leather steering wheels. So even ordering the wheel and heater would be insane.

Beyond that you'd just wire your own switch and custom power and ground to the spiral cable, which you'd need the matching new connector for.

 

I think the new Tundra has a heated steering wheel too, but most people say it barely gets warm at all.

 

All Toyotas kinda suck, my old rav4 gets mild warm, but its still nice to have.
Loads of people complain about it, but Toyota is very reserved with stuff like heaters.

 

I wish my M16 had a heated buttstock and pistol grip...Only the handguard was heated.

 

If this ended up being a simple plug and play I’d do it. No heated steering wheel is the one thing missing in my opinion from the Tacoma...call me soft but once you have it on other vehicles you miss it when it’s 20 degrees outside.

 

Except 3 gen ass warmers lol. That shit is twin turbo

 

While not ideal, I would love to have at least that. My vehicles are parked outside as I don't have a garage and the winters up here can get a tad bit cold. Even with gloves on when I drive in the morning I have to switch hands because they get too cold gripping the steering wheel.

 

Maybe same circuit as one in the Corolla...

 

This is definitely a 1st world problem! I think my last BMW had a heated steering wheel, but I don't think I ever used it given I live in the deep south.

PS: Until you guys figure this out, a nice set of cashmere lined leather driving gloves probably set you back $40 on clearance.

 

In some places gloves do not cut it but it's not like there is any other option. This is one of those things that if they have it on the 4th gen I might have to think about getting one the 2nd year they're out. It's just a simple/easy feature that I would expect it to be on the premium and tech packages. Heck, my $25k Jeep Renegade had a heated steering wheel.

 

Corollas, CH-R , Siennas and Yaris have steering wheel heaters...

 

Man, i cant stand ass warmers.

Makes my butt sweat. I have no use for my butt being sweaty. the wife always leaves hers on in the winter. when i get in, its terrible.

 

Yah I can heat up my lunch on my Taco's heated seats. My old RAV4 had two settings and my Taco has three.

 

I'd like to have a heated steering wheel too, l have Raynauds and anything under 50 degrees is hard on the hands. I actually bought heated gloves last year, they help a little but mainly warm the palm and back of the hand instead of the fingers.

 

I'd like a heated wheel myself. GF loves the heated seats in current ride and I use them to keep pizza warm on the way home but having that heated wheel for the hands after a day of deer hunting in November - it's the cat's pajamas.

 

Dude send me your under seat amp thingy then! Lol. Mine has fried like the rest of folks here. Going to be hoarding these things because they won't improve the part number.
