This seems to happen to some, and I do not want to become a victim. If I could I would like to just leave my shackles on the vehicle at all times, you never know when you will need it, and lets be honest it looks cool.

But these shackles are as easy to remove as they are to install. So has anyone came up with a idea to make them anti theft proof? Or should I shut up lol

I found this company little pricey, but at least I can set it and forget it

I like it. Recently had mine stolen. I think what you found is going to be the best idea. Just need to find it cheaper. Subd.

The cheapest solution is to not leave them hanging out all the time. Put them on when you need them.

Probably the wiser idea long term so your hardware doesn't rust and become impossible to remove if you need to change out..

I know I get it, you can easily remove when not in use. But let's face it there are some who like to leave them on, including myself.

This thread was created for options to keeping them and locked up without being stolen.

I started brainstorming a little bit. Thinking of using a longer grade 8 bolt, with a hole drilled at the end to add a simple lock. Maybe burn a wing nut on the head to quickly spin it off if need be. Dip the head and actual lock in some plastidip to give it some protection and grip.

If you want to keep them on weld the pins. For Mall crawler use.

All my rigging work the shackles need removed to hook up the cables.

In my part of the world all the fancy locks rust fast defeating the purpose of the shackle .

Causing one to take an hour to get things apart crouched in knee deep mud

You're not going to stop someone determined, so it depends on how much effort you want to make a theif go through.

Stopping someone with a cordless grinder or a cutting torch?
Need to weld both ends of the pins and don't plan on ever taking them off.

Stopping some dipshit high schooler walking home from school or the opportunistic meth head?
Blue loctite the fuck out of the threads or just wrap a zip tie through the hole of the pin and through the clevis. You can still remove the shackle with a crescent wrench or knife if you need to.

Drill the nut through the bolt and roll pin them together, then the dick will have to knock the roll pin out to steal them

Understood, thanks for the tip. But I do want them to be removable. If a company had already designed something then there must be a need or want by the consumer. I would like something similar that's a more affordable option.

I haven't had one stolen, but I did have one unthread itself from bouncing when I installed them opposite directions on the front bumper for aesthetic reasons.

Thieves suck period. If anyone is that determined they cant anything, but if I can install some type of deterrent I will sleep better at night. When I install my rear bumper, bolt heads are getting tack welded. But I cant really do the same for these

You can buy 3 Smittybuilt shackles for the price of one of those locks. I'd guess you'd spend more on the locks than you would ever possibly lose to theft.

True. I'm not trying to spend more than what they shackle is worth. If only they design the bolt to be longer with no threads at the tip, problem solved. Easily drill a tiny hole to throw on a lock
