Another steering wheel swap - 2015 Corolla w/paddle shifters.

I came across a few other threads of people swapping steering wheels in their 05-11 trucks for the 12-15 wheels, and also using steering wheels from other Toyota vehicles. After looking for a few hours I settled on this 2015 Corolla wheel for $50. Somewhere between the time I purchased and the time it arrived I realized it was actually a steering wheel from a Corolla with the CVTi-S transmission and was equipped with paddle shifters.

So now my adventure begins on making the shifters functional in my 06 automatic. Conveniently the tundra and the 4runner both utilized the a750 transmission and had S mode allowing sequential shifting. The same transmission as the Tacoma but Toyota never offered S mode in the 2nd gens.

 

Finally made some more progress with this swap, and received the center cover piece. I also swapped in 3rd gen tacoma wiper and blinker switches.

Still working on the functional paddle switch part.

if you cant get the shifters functioning for actually shifting, might be able to make them function as some other switch..

 

I believe it's entirely possible for them to control the a750 shift solenoids, guys have been controlling the 4spd a340 transmissions for a while now in a similar fashion, and more recently through pulse width modulation, 5spds are now being controlled outside of the oem tuning, with support up to 8spd transmissions also. There are a few out of the box options available, and a few forums supported by the open source crowd to make this happen with standalone shift controllers.
