    I have a 2021 Toyota Tacoma. Android Auto does not always connect. I know the cable is good because the phone is charging. Sometime it take reconnecting the cable but not always. I am frequently in rental cars and I never have this problem so I know the problem is my truck. I have tried doing a soft reset and it does not resolve the problem. Any suggestions?

    Hi, try going into the Bluetooth settings on your phone and click on forget this device and do a thorough re-pairing of your phone to the Truck.

    This might help even though you’re connecting with a cable.

    I did that and it did connect on the first try. The jury is still out if it will continue to do so. Thanks.

    Your welcome.
    Another option is’ before you re-pair the phone, go into the Trucks Head Unit and remove your phone.

    Also while pairing up your phone it’s good to go through all the steps like voice recognition, voice volume in the Head Unit.

    @mmazo
    I usually run into this issue sometimes after an Apple update on my IPhone.

    May I jump in on this? 2018 SR5. iPhone wouldn't pair a couple of days ago. I "forgot this device" on the phone, dropping the Tacoma connection. Now it won't show back up on the phone. The truck has five different phones registered to it. My phone is there and it even says it recognizes the phone's Bluetooth Address but still won't connect. The truck also will not let me delete any of the registered phones so there's no room to add this phone again. Any ideas?

    Mine is still inconsistent. Sometimes it automatically connects, and sometimes I have to plug and unplug the cable several times before it connects.

    Bluetooth is not the issue. On my 2021 it is necessary to connect a cable to get Android Auto in order to mirror the phone. That is the only way I can see maps and listen to any audio on my phone. Only the phone and texting functions work via bluetooth.
