I am wanting to have the option for android auto/car play in my 19 tacoma sport. I have the JBL system and am curious if there is an option out there I could use to add it to the stock radio. I really do not want to shell out a ton of money for a new headunit. (although the Alpine Halo does look nice)
    Thanks in advance

I'd start saving. These headunits are trash anyways. I know this is extreme but I've started saving for the stinger headten. Looks fantastic and looks like you bought the truck off the showroom floor with it. AND IT'S GOT A VOLUME DIAL. It's like $1400 though lol

It’s more or less not possible to add Carplay to the stock 2019. There is a very expensive ($600+) aftermarket beat sonic thingamajig, but it has very little integration and you probably don’t want it at that price.

If you want to stay stock it is possible to swap a head unit from a 2020-2021 Tacoma or maybe a 2018-2020 Sienna.

I have done it with a nonJBL, it’s a fun project and Carplay works great. Couple of threads if you want to learn more. Vehicle integration is almost as good as the stock 2019.

Will require an upgrade harness (about $250) and a bit of patience to find a good deal on a head unit from eBay or a wrecker, etc. ($200-$1200 depending on the feature set and how hard you look). I believe for JBL you also have to get the matching amp (can’t re-use the existing one).

Actually looks like it is $429 now. I would just worry it is one of those Chinese android head units that seem to be buggy as hell.

That's for just the installation kit. And these are sold at best buy and are really popular on the offroad community. I've had a bunch of issues with my Pioneer headunit so I don't think there's any difference when going aftermarket

Ouch. Even given I plan to drive the wheels off the truck, $1729 is a hard pill to swallow. Now if they ever add wireless AndroidAuto . . . .

You can get a wireless dongle for AA. Also, if you use the code comeback10 you'll get 10% off. So it ended up costing around 1300.
