Has anyone had this problem? Seems that it’s always off about 2 mph from the digital display. I don’t know which is correct, but does anyone know how to fix this or have any tips? Bugs the heck out of me

Mine is the same, +2 on analog. According to GPS, the digital is correct. There are a couple threads on this already, no resolution last time I searched them.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
My '21 TRD OR AC 6AT is off about the same. Cruise control set at 68 and digital reads 67 on the flats. None of it I consider to be critical and I'm not going to fixate on it. It just doesn't matter much in the big picture.

I had this same thought but I assume the stepper motor that drives the needle has a zero position each time it's powered on. I don't know that, just assume. In either case, I really want to pull out the cluster and see how it works to find out for myself if a simple "adjustment" would make any difference.

My 2017 needle was off by +1 MPH when compared to the digital display. My 2020 is dead nuts on. Luck of the draw it seems.

The digital one is based of the radios GPS, the one on the dash is based off sensors in the truck. So trust the digital one.

Looks like they fixed your MPGs too. Does the gas needle ever go below 1/2?

No I get great gas mileage too. It's superglued on F. My dealer is the best.

Mine are in agreement. But I also never have the digital speedo on display.

I used to work with an old codger of an engineer. Once upon a time he and I got into a lengthy debate about how to calibrate some lab instruments and he dropped this gem of a phrase on me.

"Hang one clock on the wall, life is good; you'll always know what time it is. Hang two clocks on the wall, you'll spend all day worrying about which one is correct."

Nice to see fellas stand behind their product!

My understanding is the analogue guage cluster is made in Japan, which explains its low quality. Hopefully the Mexican or USA plants can tool up soon and get the job done right.

Wait, this is the first time I have seen this. If that was the case the digital Speedo would be correct regardless of tire size and would not need a speedo calibration device. Can anyone confirm where the digital speedometer gets its signal? @caribe makaira ?

I know when you replace the radio with aftermarket, that screen goes away. That leads me to believe its tied to the trucks GPS.

Yeah, I’m fairly certain that is a can-bus issue and not a speedo gets it’s signal from the GPS in the radio issue. Happens in tons of vehicles since the early 2000s. A lot of important vehicle control systems run through the radio. Also why you can control several vehicle systems (locks, lighting, etc.) through the radio.

You may be right but like I said, this is the first time I’ve seen that statement made regarding the Tacoma and it makes very little sense given the need for a speedo calibration (for the digital speedo as well as analog).
