It’s definitely good stuff, you could run Pennzoil ULTRA Platinum, save a few bucks and get just as good results. Most parts stores only carry Platinum, not Ultra Platinum.
Everyone is going to chime in about their favorite “boutique” oil (redline, royal purple etc) but the reality is a good Pennzoil, Mobil1 or Castrol product will do just as well.

I totally get that and much truth behind it but I chose the signature series for the ultimate protection as I plan to run this truck for decades. One day it will become a farm truck lol

I run it in the wife's car since 2012 and Tacoma since I purchased it 6-7yrs ago.
I change the filter every 5-6000kms to keep filtering at its best.
Been using the product for over 30yrs now.
Last truck I had, a Dodge Ramcharger, I ran it plus sent in oil samples for testing and it always came back with flying colors.
I had a conversation with the testing company guy after my 3rd test and he stated that the oil I was changing out, since that was when I would grab my sample, was better than what some oils people are putting in, keep it up.

Nothing wrong with that my friend!

However, as a life long automotive technician, I will say shorter oil change intervals with cheaper oil will get you good results. I’m not a big fan of 10k OCI unless your driving habits fit the description of “normal” service to a tee.
Take a peek in the maintenance section and read exactly what constitutes “severe” conditions. I fall somewhere in between so I use a 7500 mile interval.

Sounds like you’re loving your new truck, glad to see that. Great color too!

Thanks man, I’m running signature series and still plan on doing 5k mile oil changes like I said I’m looking for ultimate protection. I’ve heard the signature series has the best seal conditioners so hoping that will prevent oil leaks down the road

Ran my 4runner to 280k on Amsoil and never used any oil at all and did 10k-12k oil changes. Used in my previous Ranger for 250k. I agree with changing the oil more often in these newer engines though, but it has nothing to do with protection and everything to do with clean oil. Pennzoil UP is great oil and probably the next best behind Amsoil and I would run it, but I can get Amsoil a little cheaper and easier.

You might want to look at the Amsoil XL if you're doing more often changes.
It really stands out in that category.

OP the benefit of a 5k OCI with decent oil is exactly that. Beyond that doesn’t matter which one. Major difference to notice is price whichever one has a deal.

odd considering oil is free to techs and most do 5k oci especially on a 4x4.

I was doing 6K and it was still silly clean. So I went to 7500 because its a highway truck……and no I don’t get free oil lol.

    Happy New Years,

I run signature series about 70%-80% of the time. When I run anything else except Penzoil Ultra Platinum then go back to Amsoil I usually find some black specs in the filter which I assume is carbon. Maybe from the ring lands.

I also change my oil around 10'000kms (6000mi I think) unless i'm on a long road trip to Nova Scotia from Alberta. In which case I just wait until I have time afterwards. Even if the round trip was over 10'000kms.

I'm also an advocate of shorter vs longer oci but, If you want the best of the best oil and drive alot then I would recommend High Performance Lubricants (HPL). Not cheap by no means and i'm a mechanic not a tribologist but from what I understand, their oils are largely ester based which is superior to anything else to date that i'm aware of in all categories.

    They specialize in industrial fluids

AMSOIL Signature Series user checking in. Full disclosure, I'm a dealer too - but that's mostly for shiggles because I barely make enough off of it to pay for the dealership fee and about one free oilchange annually. I evangelize about the product to friends and family because it really is good stuff and I run it in everything I own that needs oil.

Currently at a little over 450000km on my '06. I do extended drain intervals (15-20k km) using their 15k mile filters and have been for the last 400000km. No oil consumption. All indications are that the internals are clean, but I've never had reason to check (knocking on wood).

One beauty of extended drain intervals with a high quality oil like this is the reduction in cost per oilchange to the levels of a lower quality oil more frequently. Less work, better protection, more time to get other stuff done!

I switched over everything from Mobil1 to Amsoil for my 60k service - motor, trans, diffs, transfer case. Granted my switch was <1000mi ago, and I carry a lot of weight, but things are running well. I plan to keep my taco forever, so I was looking for something that's top of the top tier. General consensus thinks Amsoil is up there.
