Has anyone used this or any other spray on “diy” coating? I’d like to get some ideas before I take the leap and make a purchase. Thanks very much

I use Amsoil metal protector on my truck. It works well and dries to a waxy coating. About 3 cans will do the underside of the truck. I've been using it since the truck was new and there isn't any rust under there. Seems to work good considering CT lays down the "liquid rust" deicer if there is any threat of cold weather...

Love the stuff. Get the heavy duty MP.
I've used fluid film and it works ok but is always greasy and collects dust.
    Amsoil HDMP is dry waxy.
Great on leaf springs too. My top choice but does not deliver to Canada any longer. I get a case once a year when I go down.

I’ve used Amsoil HDMP two winters in a row now and I like it . It dries to a waxy film and smells kinda like wax/crayons when it’s drying. The first winter I used 4 cans and this winter I used 6 for extra coverage . Just wear old clothes you don’t mind getting ruined , it’s sticky and will stain. I also suggest long sleeves as it’s a pia to wash off , I also use disposable gloves . It does protect and in the spring I use a pump weed sprayer filled with simple green HD then run it through the car wash

Eastwood makes (made I guess as I haven't checked if it's still available) an extension hose that fits a spray can. It fit the old style cans perfectly but I did have to modify it for the new type. The hose has a brass end that sprays in 5 directions and I run that through the inside of the frame.

Use what you like, the key is being proactive and keeping up with it as long as you own the truck. Once a yr. for me does the trick.
