Has anyone uses Amsoil ATF in their transmission? I was considering doing this in the next couple of weeks. I was thinking of using the engine and transmission flush additive as well. Any thoughts?

Good stuff. I have a combination of Maxlife and Amsoil blue cap.

Yup, did a complete flush with Amsoil OE blue but didn’t use the additive. Tranny shifts much smoother and I still get surprised when I don’t feel it shift. Planning on using the Signature ATF in the wife’s Lexus.

Good to hear. I was worried, because a lot of people were saying to use just Toyota WS for their transmission fluid. However, I have heard that the life of WS is significantly shorter than Amsoil. Did you use the engine and transmission flush for the transmission? I was thinking of doing a full flush of the system, because I’m not sure it has ever been done. I’m at about 130,000 now, and bought the truck at 98,000.

I want to switch to Amsoil for the differentials and the transfer case in the next few months.

As long as it meets the WS spec you’re good to go. I’ve used Red Line D6 AT recently in our car. Although, no noticeable difference.

I use valvoline maxlife and put a bottle of lubegard in per @gearcruncher recommendation. Still shifts great.

Used both Valvoline and Amsoil both are mixed currently no issues.

I run Amsoil Severe Gear in the diffs and transfer case, rear diff in the Taco gets their LS additive. I use Amsoil in pretty much everything I own with good results, atv’s, dirt bikes, mowers, 2 stroke oil etc.

First thing I do when I pick up something used is change all of the fluids, so I’d recommend changing that tranny fluid just to be safe.

It costs $10 to become a Preferred Member at Amsoil for 6 months. That gets you 25% off and free shipping over $100 which makes Amsoil not as “expensive.”

My local transmission shop told me to ONLY use the Toyota fluid. He said in his experience Toyota auto transmissions are really picky and he's not seen great luck with other fluids in them.

That said, Project Farm on YouTube did tests all numerous motor oils and Amsoil won the shootout. It's a lengthy series of videos if you're interested.

Is Amsoil ATF fluid made by the same elves who make the oil? I did not think that the secret factory located in the magic forest was large enough to make two enchanted formulas due to the shortage of bat wings and newt eyes

WS is a good fluid and there's no real improvement on it.

I use Amsoil tramission signature fluid without the flush additves.I have been very happy with their products and no I'm not an Amsoil dealer. I only do 4qt change out as I'm not at 130000 miles. I love their hand oil pump 10x better than what you can find on Amazon.

Toyota WS fluid is fine also.

Amsoil trans fluid(blue cap I believe) has been in my transmission since approximately 100k when I had the WS flushed out. Have had a flush done every 100k since, dropped the pan and cleaned the filter at 400k before the flush. Never an issue, now at 464k. One trick is to ALWAYS make sure the shop knows how to properly check the fluid level in the transmission, flushing out x quarts does not mean just put back in x quarts

I did not know the 2007 tComas declared ws fluid but the blue cap is more for the tiv fluid right??? Dis you notoce any sifference after switching from ws to the blue cap atf fluid??? Any shift shock, shift flare, shifting harder or smoother etc etc any difference at all??? My 2020 tacoma with 10,000 miles seems to have a issue downshifting feom second to first .just sounds rough.when I brake it feels like I'm.fighting the transmission .it also feels like its a little.harsh shifting sometimes and im wondering if its due to such a thin fluid ...id really like to try something else but of course since toyota doesnt approve any other fluid and I just got the truck in a little worried about trying another fluid bc of the horror stories ive read

kind of hard to read your post but one question I think I read and can answer is I did notice a difference when switching to the Amsoil ASL ATF. Truck definitely shifted smoother.

acesolo, pretty sure your transmission issues are not fluid related or be solved with a fluid change, I dont own a newer taco, but I believe that is the biggest complaint with the 3.5 is the shifting is all over the map. should be more info on this in the 3rd gen section
