Look into the fuse “box”. The aux power is fused separately.

Thank you. I’ll check that out and see if it tells me how many amps

Well they are rated for 120W max which is 10 amps at 12 volts or 8.6 amps at 14 volts.

I'd think twice about cutting that power cord. My brother did that and ended up with a non working camera. Some devices have specific power requirements and the supplied power supply is set up to do just that. Just saying.

I used a NOCO adapter to run constant power to the dash cam. I used the hole for the AC drain to run power wires into the cab, stashed the dash cam cig plug and adapter near the HVAC blower. The actual power wire to the dash cam then went up the PS "A" pillar then up and under the headliner to the dash cam mounted on my rear view.

What I was thinking, oh boy…..
If it needs to be plugged in tue the cig lighter, I assumed I could just hard wire them
    Together

I’ve got a back burner project to entirely do away with the cigarette lighter adapters and use power pole connectors.

It sounds like your dash cam wants key on power instead of constant always on power. See what the instructions say. That way when you turn the truck off, the dash cam turns off.

If you want it hard wired, you could splice into the cigarette lighter wires. That way you can still use the lighter port for cell phone charging and such.
