AMP RESEARCH POWER STEPS INSTALLED.

So I can't deal with side steps or step bars seeing how I live in the Adirondacks. They are nothing but snow, salt and frozen slush sand catchers. I've been considering power steps for a while. The few vehicles I work on that have them have held up well the last couple winters so I took the plunge. It took me about 5 hours to install and that includes a few extra steps of my own as far as 2K sealing the motors and weather sealing connections. Being able to maintain the hinge brackets they should hold up.
I am really happy with the results and now my girlfriend, dog and son (and me) can get in my truck after the 2" lift.

I love my amp running boards, I found most running boards were to close to the rocker and useless. So happy with them

I'm curious....did you opt for the bypass switch that allows you to either keep them in the up position, the down position, or lower when you open the door? I ask because I opted for the switch, but if you did as well, I'm curious as to where you had them install it.

 

I have this option, definitely place the switch anywhere to the left of the steering wheel. That makes it super easy to drop or raise them without having to get inside the truck. Good example is when washing the truck, you can simply open the door and hit the button to drop both steps. It's also a convenient place to access it when exiting the truck. More often than not, I don't use the steps when exiting so you can hit the switch on the way out and keep them retracted.

Another bonus to having the override switch, the steps drop low enough that they can be a cat thief deterrent. Lock them in the down position when you leave the truck and it would take an insanely skinny thief to squeeze under them, so they'd have to access from the front or rear which is not ideal for a quick getaway. It's not foolproof of course but I consider it an added bonus to having them.

I am having mine installed literally right this moment by a local shop. When mine is done, I'll let you know total cost.

when I dropped it off, we discussed the switch placement and I too am having it done on the left near the traction control (going from memory at this moment) button where I have one blank spot.

once they are done I’ll take it to another shop about 20 minutes away and leave it overnight so the new leather interior with heated seats can be installed

 

Yup, great product....Not cheap but well worth it.

I have them on my 23' Off Road and really like them. They tuck in nicely to the body of the truck so that you don't even notice them when not deployed. When open they sit low and wide giving the best foot placement of any side step I have seen. They work great for my disabled wife.
