Hello; I have a 2000 Tacoma 4x4. problem is I am not getting any charge out of the alternator. The alternator is good, verified. the grounds are good and so is the positive post on alternator. The problem seems to be, instead of getting 0-4v yellow wire ignition on(connected), I am getting 6.5v.
What is meant; connected=wire connector is plugged into alternator. Disconnected= wire connector pulled out of alternator.

    key on // running

    white- connected 12.21 // 11.97
    disconnected 12.09 // 11.85

    red- connected 6 // 5.9
    disconnected 0 // 0

    yellow- connected 6.5 // 6.4
    disconnected 11.72 // 11.43

Found on Toyota corolla 2001 that the red wire disconnected has 11.7v key on and running. The Tacoma doesn't have that

Problem fixed. the red alternator wire along with the other 2 wires go to a connector under the fuse box on the sidewall, in engine compartment. from there the red and yellow wire go through the firewall. the red wire goes into the back of the fuse panel at the drivers left leg. the yellow wire goes to the white wire connector mounted to the sidewall at the drivers left foot. then from there it goes up into the dash. red wire broke between firewall to connector under fuse panel.

    Two wires power most stuff.....

Am2 runs the mainly the coil........
    thats the white/red wire....

Other branch (red/w line) is power for a number of things...
Heater/headlite/brake lite relays, and turns into the am1 branch at fuse box sending power to ignition switch- fuel pump - dash, ect...this one is pure white when it exits the engine fuse box.....red in.....
