my 2013's went @ 120ishk miles... it was actually just one of the diodes on the board not the alternator; brushes, bearings everything else looked n felt great. Needed a replacement ASAP so went with a napa denso reman'd unit. I have a good hunch the diode that went was caused by excess heat from the exhaust manifold (as it was the closest one) and TONS of WOT 1-3rd gear pulls for random tuning via HPtuners.

'09 with just over 200k and still going although my mechanic said that it would likely need replaced in the next 6 - 12 months...

Do a search here, the brushes can be changed on some. Much cheaper.

Toyota and denso make some good alternators. My 4runners alternator is 26 years old at 300k miles. My wife's Tacoma 10 years and 200k miles.

Thanks for all the replies - miles certainly vary from Leomania 112k to JayRolla 300K. Wonder how much work it is to change brushes like Killowatt suggests - I'll check it out.

My '06 lasted 238k. It still worked, but those bearings were nasty.

I replaced mine with Denso rebuilt at 150,000. No issues with it, just preventive maintenance.

Mine died after 9 years and 180,000 miles. Only significant part that isn't from the factory so I ain't complaining.

Doesn't seem 2 B any particular mileage for preventative maintenance - replace or rebuild.
