    My Cv's just started tearing and have developed a pop if I crank the wheel. I have a couple questions that I could not find answers to, but if I missed a thread that discusses my questions please let me know.

    I have a 2.5 inch lift so I was looking at either high angle cv boots or maybe an alternative like how 1st Gens use Porsche 930 boots that are thicker and replicate the high angle boot for pretty cheap if you buy them from the dune buggy crowd.

    My questions are;

    1. Does the Porsche 930 boot work on a second gen? If so, which one because there are 4 or 5 versions I think (3 at least).
    2. Is there another "thicker" boot to look at such as a Tundra or something?
    3. If I cannot do the Porsche 930 boots, do I only need high angle boots on the outer and then the inners stay OEM? The kits I have found only include high angle outers and then stock inners so I just wanted to make sure I was not missing something.
    4. I understand the concept of how to replace the boots but this will be my first time looking in depth at the CV axle and curious if anyone knows of some "common" areas to check for wear to make sure the pop is not something serious and will not persist after I finish putting new boots on and reassemble.
    5. What else should I replace/rebuild while I am in there and have it apart?

    Thanks!

    I just bought a entire new CV axle and swapped the whole thing. Then put a new boot on my old one. its easy to swap out the whole thing. and now I have a spare.

    Did you buy OEM or FLAPS version? I have not heard great things about the FLAPS versions, but I may buy a $69 one to take on big trips just in case.

    Yeah this is what I am wondering about, but I guess I had them backwards when I did my posts. So it looks like inner boot can be swapped with high angle, but outer boot stays OEM?

    When you say you are 2" over long travel, are you meaning you have a +2 long travel setup, or does this mean 2" lift?

    Awesome, thanks for the clarification. Did you do the ECGS bearing swap when you did yours? I have been reading about that and wondering if that is where my popping is coming from.

    Yes, real easy. I have done a great deal of mods to my truck. Good luck with your truck.
