Is there a hub cap other than the stock dog dish that will fit on the stock base model Tacoma steel rim? I am keeping the steelies for toughness and weight but want to clean up the look a bit.

Mind posting a shot of what you are calling a dog dish? I know what that means to me on many cars, but not picturing in on a Tacoma.

Dog dish. Stock Tacoma base model plastic snap on hub cap.

Thought about painting the caps, but they are pretty flimsy and one of mine is broken through the middle(the source of a weird vibration on the highway)

Are you speaking of the hub cover, like in this picture?

Traditionally a dog dish covers the lug nuts, like shown here

I am also curious if there is a way to fit another cover on it like some of the members do with the trd hub caps and the trd off road wheels from the second gen

Yes. Is there another cap that will fit the spoke style steel wheel other than those?

If you were shopping for those, you'd use the term center caps. Pretty sure that's what even Toyota calls them.

Good luck. I'd be happy to find some just in chrome. I like irritating chrome haters.:rofl:

I'd just do this. Take them off, clean them up, throw and few coats of Krylon fusion satin black and call it done.
