Replaced a Pioneer MVH-600BS double din with an Alpine ILX-W650 last night. Pioneer had a mini stereo input that the ASWC-1 plugged-in to, which allowed it to auto-program. Worked flawlessly. The new Alpine has three steering wheel control wires (key 1, key 2, and ground). I've wired them to ASWC-1 female mini stereo connector but the unit doesn't seem to want to program itself. I have to go into the settings and manually program, but after trying few settings they all get wiped out.

Just wondering if anyone's had success with this unit yet. Should I ditch the ASWC-1 and just direct-wire it, maybe?

Yeah, solved it just now. The ILX-W670 handles the programming and you don't need an ASWC-1 or newer AXSWC. You can just directly wire to the steering wheel control wires and program via the head unit. Way cleaner, easier, and cheaper in the end.

I installed an ILX-W670 in my 2011 tundra this weekend but wasn’t sure where to connect the steering wheel control wires from the Alpine, so my steering wheel controls are not functioning. Is there a wiring diagrams? I read the instructions but couldn’t figure out the wiring

Not sure about the Tundra, but there were two wires I needed to find in one of the factory harnesses behind the radio for the ILX-670 steering wheel controls. I'd already clipped and wired the right ones to an ASWC-1 a few years ago for a previous install (Pioneer unit) so they were easy for me to find and connect. Might be violet/white (SW1) and yellow/black (SW2) based on a quick google search, but I could be wrong.

Once you find them, it's super easy to program the unit. The ASWC-1 and AXSWC both wouldn't program correctly. They'd let you program volume up and volume down, but after a couple more keys they would reset and delete everything you'd already programmed. Nice that Alpine built the functionality right into the new unit... really simplifies things behind the dash.

    Good luck.
