If it had the alpine system, be sure you wired the radio’s FRONT speakers to the harness REAR speakers.
the alpine system only takes 2 channels of input and they are wired where the rear channels are in the harness.

Make sure the yellow blue wire goes to the radio and nothing else. Then you just sister the black to ground and the blue to blue

Glad you took the tile to read it! Most people just go color-for-color and don’t even bother with diagrams. Then they don’t notice anything is wrong until they make a phone call and can’t hear the other person talking

Do you recall which adapter you picked up off Amazon? I’m about to install this and want to maintain my connection in the dash.

You probably don’t need it. Newer trucks are pretty much plug and play with the usb according to what I’ve read here. Older ones need an adapter for off the back of the radio though the trim if you want a clean look. But I could be wrong... wouldn’t be the first time?!?

I just ordered today and included the metro kit and PAC 4.2Y11 adapter.

Just installed mine today. Works great and is super fast on response.

it sounded a lot better after I tweaked the parametric EQ from stock to my customized settings. Added more depth and highs for sure.

I’d be curious to see how you set yours. I’m not familiar with how to tweak all those settings in the advanced section. Or did you just use the simple version?

My reordered PAC is coming tomorrow so maybe I’ll get my SWC working. I hope. And microphone. Neither one worked.

I did the simple version and had bass all the way up, the mid in the middle, and the treble all the way up....but it sounded kinda hollow and no depth of range. So when I went to advanced you can adjust each of the 10 eq settings and move them lower or higher. For example....on the bass end I set my eq to 50....it is adjustable from like 20-63hz or something like that. I customized each one and left the spectrum on Wide...you can also do narrow or medium .... Wide gave it a better sound to me. I can take a pic later. I am still playing with it just a little bit but I think I have it set the way I like. I also have aftermarket Kicker ds series all around and Subaru drop in tweeters to replace the upper dash .....each brand I would expect maybe to sound a little different.

Sounds about like what I did. I have Rockford Fosgate all around. I went cheap. Still sounds great.

To anyone that has experience with this model Apline, do you still love it in your tacoma? I have the factory JBL system on my 06' DCSB so will everything work with one another or what else extra will I need to purchase in order to keep my steering wheel controls, factory amp, etc? Is an aftermarket amp required to run the system?
Future plans for my truck are the Focal plug and play speakers so that would be the preferred time to go with an aftermarket amp as well. All in all, should I have this Alpine installed in my ride or go a different direction?
Any info/advice is greatly appreciated by everyone! Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, (if it matters at all) my reasoning for wanting the upgraded head unit is to have the option for video in the Tacoma because my daughter sits in the middle of my backseat and we take some long road trips (for a 4 year old) so if it's possible to make the passenger experience a lil better for her I'll jump at it.

I don’t think this is the radio you want if video is a selling point. This is great for a good quality CarPlay experience at a low cost. While I’m sure you can play video on it, it’s not really set up for it. I’d look into a receiver that has DVD capability built in or even better, grab her a tablet so she can watch downloaded video, play games, or listen to music.

I’ve been considering putting this in my 2017 but I haven’t found anything about what happens with the multi function display in the gauge cluster. Does everything work 100% or are there sections that are blank after install (like navigation)?

    Screens are the following:
    Fuel economy
    Navigation
    Audio
    Incline meter / tpms
    Warnings
    Settings

I have been using this for a little bit now. Everything works fine while driving except if you are trying to make advanced eq settings which you need to be stopped to do anyways. Otherwise the "simple settings" of bass/treble/fade/balance/subwoofer volume etc all works. I have zero complaints. Nav works while driving and the carplay works great. The microphone for bluetooth works also great. I cannot speak about the settings on screen for gas mileage, tire presuure settings, temps, etc.....I did not buy it for that and use my factory ones in the dash which tell me this info anyways. I don't think this unit is capable for that though because it uses crux interface and not maestro.
