I am all MacOS too, but my son has a gaming PC running Windows 10 which is what I used. Here is the other thing, you have to use Internet Explorer too, cannot use the Edge Browser nor Chrome or Firefox.

What you only need is a PC running Windows 7 though 10 and an accessible USB port. It only takes a few minutes to flash your module and you are on your way. NOTE: If you hook everything up and it doesn't work correctly, re-flash the module. I had a problem, iDataLink told me to re-flash the module. I did and it fixed it.

When all is done, you get these cool gauges.

That’s awesome. I’m sure I could find someone with a laptop PC that I could borrow. Is the datalink pretty easy to install once you have the old radio out? I know you are in a 2nd gen but does it just plug into whatever you unplug from the old head unit? My main concern is cutting/splicing wires. If all it is is taking out old unit, re attaching things in the back & installing new head unit I can do that. The datalink & trying to keep the steering wheel controls / backup cam / original functions is something I haven’t attempted ever, but if it’s plug & play then I’m willing to give it a shot. I did read that it requires a new wired mic which I guess I could pretty much throw anywhere.

The wires from the new iLx-107 harness will need to spliced into the iDataLink Harness (have both wiring diagrams out.) . It will be the constant, accessory, ground, speaker wires if no amp, remote wire, antenna power and speed sensor. I may be missing a few. Pretty straight forward. From there, the iDataLink harness plugs into all connectors already existing in your truck. The great thing is you do not cut anything on your truck, thus its FULLY reversible. Your stock deck could go back in and nobody would know.

I’m installing my ILX-207 today. Currently flashing the Maestro, bought all the products throughout a Crutchfield. I am going to splice on my own, mainly due to the previous installer of my Pioneer deck and was worried that his cables might have an affect on the Crutchfield pay to connect package. Fingers crossed.

I recently had the Alpine 107 installed on my 2004 TRD. Love this unit. Connects faster, interface mirrors phone display, phone app controls eq and cross over points. Currently using YouTube Red for playback and headunit can control FF, Play, Pause, etc. Apple Music maybe more convenient in terms of being able to use SIRI to play/change music.

If I install the ILX-207 and Maestro will the factory usb and line in connection by the iQ charger button still work?

For anyone running an aftermarket remote start (Viper, Directed, etc.), you are not able to run this with the Maestro line to the OBD2 ports This is a current issue as both of these units integrate with the OBD2 port. You either have to lose the alarm functionality, or the gauges,PSI, etc. functionality.

I have been told that these companies are working to “fix” this issue, but no timeline has been given.

In the end, I Decided to keep my remote start system and did not hook up the OBD2 portion of the Maestro. I never had this feature in the past, so it did not bother me.

Has anyone on here, with this headunit, done the Subaru tweeter upgrade? I know that the tweeters don’t work with the JBL headunit & I wanted to make sure they will work with the Alpine unit.

I have a 2016 TRD off road. Couple questions I have, would love some help before I purchase:

Do I have to mount the GPS antenna that comes with the unit? Or does the truck already have one preinstalled that I can connect to?

Is there anywhere to mount the mic so its behind the dash? Or anywhere you dont see it?

Can anyone post more pics of the install? A photo a bit farther back than the ones posted? The Harness for the 2016 tacoma is flush right? some of the photos look like there is a slight bevel in.

Hope I can get some help.. thanks!

The antenna is only in use as a backup for the Apple maps and CarPlay when you have no cell service. Idatalink makes the SAT02 that comes with 2 gps antenna retention adapters that fit “most” aftermarket radios. So to answer that question. Yes you need it IF you don’t have factory gps. Also, yes you need the idatalink IF you want to try to integrate it. NO you DONT have to have the alpine antenna in plain view. I mount them inside the radio dash or on the radio itself ALL the time. They WILL Work fine hidden.
As for the mic. You need to mount it where you can see it because if it’s design to block out the noise. I HAVE hidden and fiberglassed a factory mount to flush 1 before.
The “harness”. The harness that your talking about is not what you use to mount. That is a mounting kit or dash kit. On a 16 rhe alpine looks good in that truck. You cannot be picky about a mic or a kit ( yes some brands look better than others ) being how they are because it’s aftermarket. You want a factory look then keep it factory. How you make it look with what there is to work with, that on you or the installer

Thanks for the info @Do58 !

I have GPS, and planned to get the Idatalink setup, so now I know I can use the factory GPS antenna.
As for the Mic, has anyone been able to route it to the factory location and got it to fit? If its a standard(ish) mic cable, can you cut/replace mic and cabling to not have to run any new wire?

Yes, I was able to get the alpine mic cable to fit in the OEM location with the CDE-HD149BT unit.

In the new ILX I have, I ran the mic cable up to the headliner above the rear view mirror. I can’t even notice it. I’ve got an aftermarket alarm, so my sensors and what not are mounted in the same place.

I’m having issues with my backup camera. I have the maestro with the t02 harness as well as the camera adapter. I am not getting a camera signal. Do I need to use a 12v-6v converter? On crutchfields website, it does say you need to splice into 4 wires to utilize the factory back up camera.

    Is that my only hangup?

Also, is there a way to ground the speed sensor wire and parking brake wire to allow full use even while driving?

    Thanks in advance!

The Maestro RR/TO2 wiring diagram they sent me doesn't mention splicing - looks like it should plug right into the harness. (I'm in the middle of wiring mine so, I haven't even looked behind the stock head unit yet, so I can't quite confirm. But the diagram says it should be a straight connection).

Related - it says to connect the ground wire on the Alpine harness to the TO2 ground wire. Simple enough. But the Alpine ground wire is thicker, and is made to connect to a bolt on the frame. Crutchfield said I can cut it and just connect the two together. But I saw elsewhere that if I were to add the Alpine Powerpack or something similar, I'd want big ground wire definitely hooked up the frame. So should I just splice into the thicker ground wire with the T02 one, and hook the big one up to the frame anyway? (Crutch said this wasn't necessary because it's already grounded from the Toyota factory harness).

I solved my issue. I didn’t realize I had to find the parking brake versus using the green wire on the t02 harness. I knew I had to fix that, but I was focused on the back up camera. Well once I had the ground for the parking brake solved, it let me go to the settings to enable the camera setting.

I wasted a lot of time researching, but it taught me to address the problems as I find them.

    Thanks for your reply!

Edit: I just reread your response. Maybe you will have better luck, but I would test the ground continuity of the ebrake wire before you solder or connect to alpine harness. I had to run a separate ground to a switch to get it to work as I didn’t want to tear apart the center console to find the wire color of the parking brake.

Glad you solved your issue! Thanks for the tip - will do. I spoke to someone at iDatalink as well, and they said just took the two black wires up (from the Alpine harness to the TO2) and I'm good to go. We'll see.

What features do you lose (if any)? I have the JBL system on my 19 that I hate. Does that $175 Crutchfield kit take care of everything or nah? I don't want to lose any default crap...
