    Buyer Beware

Back in June/21 when I ordered my truck I started stock piling parts for when my truck arrived and one of the things to change was the OEM headlights. So I considered my options and availability comparing Morimoto, Alpharex, and OEM Pro headlights.

This was the pricing comparing the three.

    Morimoto: $2147 CDN
    Alpharex: $1345 CDN $175 duty
    OEM: $2554 CDN

I’ve had great experience with Morimoto in the past but they’re still way overpriced for the overall build quality and is not much of an improvement from Alpharex.

OEM is always the best option but OEM is always going to be dumb expensive. My dealer told me some bs excuse for them not being able to order in the Nightshade headlights
    Part# 81110-04290(Right Head Light)
    Part# 81150-04290 (Left Head Light)
They said they we’re only able to order them in for insurance claim purposes. So I just walked from that option because the OEM headlights were over $1000 more than the Alpharex pro series and my dealership was just too lazy to put a bit more effort into finding these lights.

I ended up cheaping out ordering the Alpharex pro series in Alphablack from Tacomabeast during one of their sales. Paid $1520 after 11% tax, shipping, and duty.

So I got the lights and I immediately realized I fucked up.
Install was shotty as hell, massive amount of wire to tuck, plug fitment was trash, headlight sealant isn’t consistent, gap between the hood was out 4mm on the passenger side, beam pattern is just a puke along with similar light output as OEM halogen projectors, signal is slightly out of sequence with the mirrors, and finally; they took on moisture almost immediately.

    upload_2022-3-3_18-8-36.jpg

If you’re on the fence about ordering these boujee ass headlights every truck on Instagram has, just don't. Don’t make the mistake I did if you care about quality and customer service. I’m now stuck with these lights and fronted the cash for the OEM TRD pro headlights as I dumped my oem’s right after the install.

Am I the only one who has had issues and hates these headlights?

I was able to get them through PA Toyota in SK.

From what I’ve heard Heninger Toyota in Calgary will order in both the TRD Pro and Nightshade headlights.

I could reseal them, but it’s not a guarantee that’s what’s causing the moisture. I’ll just agree with him that oem is 100% the way to go, for reasons like his post.

If you lived closer I would have given you my OR OEM headlights to use in the meantime. I went with the Morimotos and they were easy to install, look great and headache free.

Yo are not the only one that experienced this. It also happened to me and apparently it’s “normal” with LED headlights! The easy solution is to open the lights from behind and air them out, then tape some silica pouches inside. I was about to do that but since Alpha was going to take them back I returned them and went down the oem route. Believe it or not the do sell those moisture packs on some head light websites. my experience in dealing with Alpha Rex was very pleasant and this alpha black lights do really look good. I hope they resolve the moisture issues.

Could have saved plenty of money and headache checking the 3rd Gen headlight thread prior to purchase.

Always wondered why nobody liked this guy. I will admit though, I found out about the "Stinger" head unit through them and without a doubt will be buying it.

Sorry to hear this OP. Live and learn. The best course of action for shitty gear like this is to blow them up with tannerite and firepower. It'll make you feel better.

Lol. I already pre-ordered. I was on the fence about a headunit until I saw this. Everything included, plug and play, and it's got everything I want. Thanks TC... I mean... 5 star car stereo!
