I recently installed the Alpha Rex Headlights in my 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro. Everything went fine with the installation but randomly the Day Time Running Lights would turn on when the truck is off, I noticed this on my lunch break i saw the lights were on but shortly would turn back off, only for them to come back on again after a few hours randomly. I checked the wiring, checked the fuse box, everything was fine but i cant figure out why in the world they keep coming on. Any help or advice would be helpful at this point, thank you.

What fuse did you tap into?
On the early model 2nd gens (05-08) without dtrls they have you tap into the fuse for the evap system
And the tank releases vapors at 30 mins and 7 hours after driving so when it does the lights turn on due to the circuit being on

this is the only fuse under the hood that has power

    A few.
They have a mind of there own sometime. I have a set on my 2019 also. It seems to be just the way they function. If I turn my switch to the drl off position sometimes they still stay on.

Seems the install harness is not the proper one for your TRD PRO.

I believe these and morimoto do a fuse tap for DRL hence the INJ fuel test dealio? Speculation though, I haven’t touched either, just based on photos and conversations with others.

OP, resell poor performing alpha Rex and put the Pro headlights on, your truck deserves better.

Read this thread for more info, specifically this post.

Hey @ShmulyGod, did you ever figure this out? I have that same issue on my 2008 Tacoma TRD Sport. Done two separate wiring configurations and neither stopped the lights from randomly coming on.

I have a 2006 Tacoma TRD off road. I just installed 05-11 Toyota Tacoma LUXX-Series LED Crystal Headlights Black roughly 2 days ago. I was awoken last night around 1:00 a.m. to my room filled with light. I jumped up and looked out my window and realized my truck's newly installed drls had randomly come on on their own with the truck off and locked.
I know my wiring is good and I had no issues installing. Double checked everything today to confirm that. Seems like some of you are having similar issues.
The gas tank purge at 7 hours creating a hot circuit on the ignition fuse under the hood seems to make the most sense to me.
I'm going to contact the company today to see what they say about it.
Hopefully theres an easy fix because I really don't want to have to wire a toggle switch into my dashboard for outgoing power to the headlights.

Always best to go OEM to avoid issues like these.

Don't want to sound like 'that guy' but as a former Morimoto owner myself, I'm glad I ditched them early on so I wouldn't deal with random gremlins. Plus they sucked lighting wise but whatever my opinion...

i just installed mine with no problems at all.

don’t listen to people on the forum giving negative advice- these headlights look and perform amazing.

There are some things that are worth spending the money on to go OEM. Headlights are one of them. Just my $0.02. I'm with @daveeasa. Pull them out, sell them, get a set of OEM LEDs.

I’ve come up with a solution for the daytime running lights to turn off with the switch. I took the fuse, block, adapter wire, and ran it to the daytime, running light positive wire, everything functions as it should, and when you turn the switch to DRL off the alpha Rex accent light, turns off after about eight seconds.

Can you show a video or picture of what you did, I got the alpha rexx novas and the DRL stays on regardless if it’s in off or on.

You most likely tapped a fuse that is constant as opposed to ignition controlled. Best way to do it if you have a TRD trim is to grab the DRL signal from the headlight plug itself. It will be the green wire. If you don’t want to tap a wire, hit up @daveeasa and he might sale a solution. If not, feel free to hit me up and I can make something for you.

I’m not sure I can enable an alpharex headlight installation.

Hello everyone! Was anyone able to figure this out? im having the same issues on my 23 SR with the alpharex luxx lights. They work perfectly fine but I've noticed a couple times they randomly turn on at night (DRLS). where should I connect the fuse tap instead? any help is greatly appreciated!

Morimotos no issues amber DTRL look great and they out perform OEM brightness. 5 year warranty vs 1 year OEM. 300$ trade credit for my 19 TRD pro headlights costs less than OEM
