Here's a pic of my '99 and the wheels. I'd like to restore the wheels. I've looked at some youtube vids but i don't have the patience to sand them all by hand.

Any advice? Sand/media blaster? Dremel tool attachment? What do i coat them with after i get them cleaned up?

Pay someone else. Absolute pain in the ass. I put 4 hours each into these and they still only look good from about 5' away. 1025181634b.jpg
The VHT Wheel paint has held up though, going on 6 months or so.

If you've got the money take them to a powercoater and have them strip them and coat them. I sanded mine down, used rustoleum silver metallic, and rustoleum clear. They came out pretty good but I've got a lot of time in them.

Thanks guys, i was hoping there was an easy solution. I may look into a local powder coater or media blaster.

I was quoted $340 to sandblast and powder coat my next set of wheels. But Im supplying the powder so figure about 380 all said and done. Gonna be so worth it in the end.

I’ve never seen those wheels before. Those are takeoffs from another Toyota? LC maybe?

You can try acid washing them to brighten them up. Like this. https://www.biokleen.com/acid-wash

A lot of truck stops offer it as a cleaning service. We have a car wash here that offers it, not exactly sure what brand they use...but they spray it on my wheels and they look darn near new. I did strip the clear coat off years ago though.

I bought a used set of the 15" OEM Chou Seiki 5 spoke aluminum alloy wheels similar to what Jay-coma has from a local Craig's List seller that had mold growing all over it. I took it to a local wheel repair shop, had the wheels cleaned/polished/powder coated in black. The centerpieces for the wheels were also painted black. It gave my truck a fresh new look!

Toyota used these wheels for a decade on multiple vehicles over multiple generations. I'm surprised you've never seen them. They're my favorite old-school toyota wheel. I wish they'd look decent on my 1st gen, but the styling isn't quite right.
