I have these with about 10K on them now and haven't noticed any change in noise. I have been extremely pleased with them so far, especially for the price (paid about the same as the OP).

The closer the lugs the more quiet the tire.
    Further apart is louder.
That being said, my Nitto Ridgegrappers are pretty quiet.

3PMS was a must for me. I rode Duratracs for a long time and they were too noisy. Swapped to Wildpeaks and have been MUUUUCH happier.

I’ve had both, BFG KO2 and Falken Wildpeaks. The Falken are way quieter than the BFG KO2s. The Wildpeaks also last longer and are insanely better in the snow. This is just my experience with the two tire brands over the years.

Falken wildpeak at3w are amazing for the money. Im on my second set, and will be moving to my third by summertime. In the snow and ice, i havent found a tire that performs as well. In dry, dusty and loose they do well, and on pavement too, not much noise for a AT.

My Wildpeaks were definitely far quieter than the Cooper Rugged Treks I have on the truck.

Did any Falken Wildpeak owners see a significant drop on their MPGs vs the stock tires?

I noticed a solid drop from stock Wranglers (which are a pretty damn good tire OP) to Duratracs. Going from Duratrac to Wildpeak I can't say for sure, but I think they are performing slightly better.

Wildpeaks have great performance and wear, aren't expensive, and are quiet.

Edit: did get a mpg hit swapping from stock but uh... Also went up to 33's so it's completely irrelevant.

Tire Rack rated them so high in the snow and beat out the competition on their track.

Check tire weight. That might surprise you when looking between brands.

I don’t personally care as much about fuel economy so it’s not a concern.

My wild peaks have been getting pretty noisy with about 25k miles on them. They have a pretty loud hum to them. Plus, only after 2 years they are dry rotting.

Peaks were great when they were a budget AT tire but now they have jumped quite a bit in price.

I've had 3 different types on my Tacoma...KO2s, Mich Defender and the Goodyear Kevlar tires (the original tire when I bought my truck new)...at least a couple of sets of each as I have put around 210K miles on my truck in 4 years.

The original tires were OK - for me they were not as bad, as many said they were for them; though they did not last long at all. The Defenders were a very nice tire and they lasted a long time (around 60K I believe).

I switched to the KO2s because we own a horse farm - boarded on 2 sides by a river - and I needed a little better off road tire. I am thrilled with the KO2s, in fact I bought my wife a new 4Runner (TRD Pro) this past Feb and I had the dealership put on set of KO2s before she went to pick it up. I even put a set on my son's (1st Gen) Tacoma (he had Duratracs). He liked the Duratracs as well.

For me the KO2 is a very nice all around tire - it is not noisy, not as quiet as the Defender but a much better tire for what we need. I get around 75-90K miles out of the KO2s. My son will not get as much, but his truck is lifted (5 inches with a heavy ARB bumper/Warn Winch set up) and he is 21 and I'm in my 60s (different driving habits). My wife has only put around 9-10K miles on her 4Runner, but she likes them on and off road. Good luck.

I am on Cooper AT3's and they are great. Quiet and smooth on the highway but have the bite to tackle gravel, mud and snow with ease. My only regret was not buying them in 285's but that is a different story altogether.

Thanks for the info about the Falkens. I'm definitely leaning towards that after hearing its reasonably quiet and wears well. Now I just need to decide between the 265/70s or 275/75s.
