All-Pro Off Road APEX Sliders review

    IMG_0202.jpg The All-Pro Off Road APEX sliders for my 2016 DCLB seem more than beefy enough to get the job done. The upward angle and “Kick-Out” add clearance and functionality. They extend outward just past the line of the cab, which seems about right to me. If they stuck any farther out they would be obtrusive, but they are far enough out to protect not only your rocker panels but will protect your doors from a (perfectly) vertical object such as a tree. Your mirror is on its own.


    The gap of the exposed body between the tires and the sliders seems a little wide at first glance, but upon further review seems perfectly appropriate. The gaps are about ten inches and the “unprotected” part of the rocker panels is more than 15 inches off the ground at stock height, so it would need to be a fairly tall and narrow obstacle to get in the gap and do damage.IMG_0203.jpg


    The fitment is fine, but it’s not exactly Swiss watch quality. The install by Dave’s Offroad Outlet in Sonora CA required a little creativity, but this is not the job for a weekend warrior like me. This is a serious install that needs to be done by pros, and pros should be able to handle it fine. I suppose there’s not much way around it, but the fact that there are elements mounted to the stock frame that have to be detached to mount these sliders is a bit challenging. There are plastic anchors that hold lines that have to come off, and then, well, something else has to happen. Zip ties or tape or just dangle, the choice will be yours. I’m sorry I was unable to get good pictures to tell this part of the story, but suffice it to say that a certain amount of improvisation will be necessary to complete the mount.


    But, true to my limited experience and the reputation of All-Pro Off Road, if you want to slide your Taco over the rocks on something other than the bendable parts of your truck, these should do the trick.

    I suppose it's possible that the DCLB version has less coverage, but I hope not. It's supposed to be designed for it specially. And as I said, the obstacle that will get up in there and do damage is going to have to be about 17" high but under 10" wide. Maybe try a different line in that case.

    I've got the APEX as well and the brake lines on the driver side definitely need some creative thought. I have yet to put those two bolts in as I am still working on the best way to do it. Also didn't do the furthest back bolts either yet as I don't have a 90 degree drill...

    Check the thread I posted above. Couple of people have had good success with their drill on a jack and they use the jack for leverage to drill up if that's what you're talking about

    nope, I got those just fine with fresh tungsten bits, I am talking about the furthest to the rear where you need a drill between the slider rail and the frame

    How are you liking these sliders? I'm a little concerned with less coverage towards the rear. And part of the reason I want sliders is to use as a step to reach up on the roof rack and into the back of the truck. Bummer it doesn't go back another 4 in
