All my dash lights are flashing and my engine won’t turn over. My truck would run great then die with all dash lights flashing. I found a couple ground wires that were loose and tightened them and it ran great again. Then a few days later died and flashed all my dash lights again. It would start and run for a little bit but then die again and flash all dash lights. Now it won’t turn over and when I turn the key to power on all dash lights flash??? Anyone have any ideas? Tested battery and it has a full charge so I’m assuming my alternator is still working fine. Thanks

Check all fuses. In cab and in engine bay. Also clean battery ports.

Battery ports are clean but I haven’t checked all of my fuses yet. I’ll give that a try. My check engine light wasn’t coming on so I’ve been assuming a loose ground wire somewhere or my computer is bad. Not sure why I didn’t think to check all my fuses. Thanks I’ll try that out.

I’d start looking at the alternator fuse. The one missing a cap in my picture (top left) 4C5D5483-0745-453D-AE01-FA094FF5139D.jpg

I wish you could post videos on here. It’s like a Christmas tree with all my lights flashing. Check engine, maintenance, 4 wheel drive, etc... every light in my dash is flashing when I turn the key to power mode... been having problems with it for a few weeks and it got worse and worse until it won’t even turn the engine over anymore. But when it would run it ran great until it would die. But it’d start back up and run fine. Then die eventually until it finally won’t do anything but flash every light at me...

check ground straps/cables/battery cables on frame and motor ends. Check for a bad bat cable - run your fingers down the main cables and feel for bumps/breaks in the cable under the insulation. Get a Meter and be sure you have 12v at fuses - even when you turn on the motor and engage the started

Found a ground wire on the passenger side that wasn’t screwed down. It’s starting and seaming ok but we’ll see in a couple days...

Sounds like that was it if its now starting again. All the lights on the dash go out? If your engine light is on, might be worth doing a scan with an ODBII scanner.

No check engine light. But it’s done this before and ran great for a few days. Then just shuts off and flashing lights. Been doing it for a week and a half. But unfortunately I’ve found 3 different ground wires that were loose. Hopefully this one is it... I’ll check back in a few days. Thanks for the help

I don't understand why all of your ground wires are loose. I've been driving for 49 years and have never had a loose ground wire that I didn't loosen it myself.

x2 was the frame replaced on this Tacoma?

Also, you say dash lights - ALL lights including back illumination lights for buttons, knobs - or just the "instrumentation cluster" lights ?

I bought it Jan 2017 and a few weeks later found that the frame was cracked. The recall for the weak frame ended in 2016... had to pull the motor and have someone weld a kit on where the frame cracks by the motor mounts. Put the motor back in and it’s ran great for a year. I took a video of my flashing dash lights and showed it to the head mechanic at my local Toyota dealership. It’s not throwing any codes so he said I could leave it there for a while and he’d start it up every now and then and wait for it to act up and try to hook it up to the computer... not sure what to do???

There is a ground on the back of each cylinder head just below the valve covers, double check those. But 3 grounds left loose so far? Makes me think what else is left loose or not plugged in all the way. Sounds like someone did a sloppy job. I would go over everything again

I think I found the problem. There was a ground wire on my driver side under the exhaust manifold that wasn’t tightened down. The bolt was all beat up and not tightened all the way. Had a little gap. Took it out and put a new bolt in and tightened it up. Been running perfect for a few days.

WOW Good find. I hope this is the last issue. I'm really surprised on the all the loose grounds you found. Did you have this since new ??? If not did you check the service records online?? IT sounds like either a past issue that some mechanic did not tighten the grounds after some troubleshooting - or you have a real nasty person trying to screw with you ...

    NOT TRUE.

Frame replacement program is still open for 2005-2010 trucks.
Toyota replaced the frame on my 2005 just 3 months ago.

Find out who is lying to you and go kick their ass.

Go to this link and enter your VIN to check for recalls

What? Really? I went to my a Toyota dealership in 2017 and they said the recall ended in 2016 and they couldn’t do anything about it...
