Album art doesn't show

When connected with BT i only get random stock images instead of the actual album art. Only happens with BT, when I connect with USB it's fine. 2019 OR DCSB with entune premium head unit. Anyone else experience this? Is it normal?

 

I find it happening depending on the apps I'm using and how the media was ripped. Music ripped from YouTube has no art. Windows Media Player and Winamp (it still kicks the llama's ass) both hit CDDB and download art, thus embedding it in the mp3 image so it always shows up. Stuff "acquired" through "other means" is a media crapshoot. Just so long as the malware scanner comes back clean - I'm happy.

When I stream from Pandora, I get art. When I stream from TuneIn, I don't.

I usually just stick with my 16GB USB and not worry about it. Art or no art, I just want the tunes. I'm not staring at the head unit while I'm driving.

 

I have an iPhone and all my music is DL'd onto the phone. Artwork is def there (I'm a DJ and and a huge stickler for correct metadata, using Tag & Rename for
all my tracks) It shows up fine with USB connection, just not BT connection.

 

I just wish that Entune would come up with better images on XM. It has like 10 generic images that it arbitrarily places with no discernable pattern.

 

Can you suggest a way to rip music from youtube? the site youtube to mp3 which I used all the time and worked well, no longer works. thanks!

 

yt2mp3.com is what I use. No software to download - all happens in the browser. Don't let it open pop-ups or try to rip anything longer than an hour and it works great.

 

I have the same problem so i went into the settings and turned off album artwork because the weird stock images were bugging me

 

I find that if the music is newer than the built in gracenote db, that I have generic artwork for the genre when I'm using Bluetooth. You can update the gracenote db, supposedly... But I've never found an actual download link for it. I tried the link from the 4runner forum and it didn't work. I gave up trying and am happy to just have the track info.

 

In the 2020, not sure about earlier models, you can update the gracenote db.

 

This annoys me as well. Wish there was a fix for it.

 

So it seems like BT is able to transmit artist , song, album info but not the artwork info. hmmmmm.

I think in my case, it's the "other means" crapshoot scenario. I have an old school iPod classic, 128GB with a moving disc inside, and a 2020 ipod touch. Also, my iphone 11 pro. As for my music, I get them from three sources, purchased from itunes, downloaded from other means, and ripped from CD (big CD guy) using itunes. Within itunes/apple music, I always insert/paste an album art as nowadays itunes is crap at getting album cover automatically.

1. when using the ipod classic and the ipod touch via USB, album art display is completely random, and most of the time, nothing at all, nothing (and with a red Gracenote logo at bottom of the USB icon).
2. occasionally generic image will appear, whether it's the image of the genre (pop), or image of the artist.

the format of music on these two devices are either mp3 or itune formats. I have not done an experiment to figure out any pattern yet.

 

This is for my aftermarket head unit but I imagine it's the same. BT can't send album art, usb can, but if you use an app in the head unit such as spotify, the album art will go through. I suppose it depends on the media type and how the head unit interprets it.

 

I have a 2022 Tacoma and use a USB stick for all my music. When the vehicle is in park, the album art shows up. Once you shift out of park, it disappears. Guess they didn't want us to see that image while driving. ~smh~ Weird because I've seen it on the 2018 and 2019 models and that album art always appeared no matter if you were in Drive, Park, etc.
