From all tests on the battery everything checks out. Reading good on crank and idle. But I’ve gotten in my truck after it’s been sitting and heard a clicking coming from the alarm possibly by the small red alarm light/button. It is flashing. Put a charger on it and it starts up no problem. Removed the door lock fuse for the time being. Anyone experience this, possible fix or anyone remove the alarm system before? Thanks.

I would take out the alarm, disconnect everything from the wires they tapped into and splice the wires back together that were cut. I've yet to see an aftermarket alarm system install that was done very well.

Yea agreed, just have to figure out how it’s wired. Never messed with one before. And I’m not sure if it’s aftermarket or not. It’s a 2006 I purchased with about 60k on it years ago.

Just trace out all the wires from the alarm module and disconnect and repair as nessesary. It's likely to be tied into the ignition switch, door locks, lights, horn, and door switches.

The aftermarket alarm, a Diversified Electronics sub-brand that I forget right now, on my Gen 1 was draining that truck’s battery, either from bad electronics or bad wiring. I took it out a couple of years ago and the truck is now fine.

My Gen 2 had an aftermarket alarm installed by the dealer (a KARR system for one-key salesman access to all the vehicles on the lot, which is also a nice source of income if they can sucker a customer into paying for it when the vehicle sells). I took that one out too, with a lot more confidence having done something similar on the Gen 1.

Most alarms have a single cut wire on the ignition circuit. Everything else will likely be taps onto existing circuits or self-contained circuits, for door locks, lights, horns, sirens, breakage sensors, and so on. If you get that ignition wire spliced back together — with a good splice — the other stuff can almost certainly be disconnected or abandoned. The truck won’t run if you remove the alarm and don’t get that ignition circuit spliced back like it was.
