    Was running wires through the firewall and needed to pull my glovebox out. When taking off my passenger airbag the wires to the airbag connector plug slid right out. (The yellow wrapped wires) I picked up a new plug but the wire colors don’t match. I can reuse the original plug too but I cannot find which side the positive wire goes into the plug. Left or right. Spent 45 min at Toyota looking at wire diagrams and they couldn’t find it either. Zero Tacos in salvage yards for me to just look. Help me internet peeps!

    The 2016 has 3 connectors to the passenger airbag. Are you certain is the passenger airbag and not the lower instrument airbag?

    Well now, the one I pulled is the lower under the glovebox. Dropped an image of my two wires. Green and Red. And an image of the plug when it was still attached.

    If I remember right, that yellow piece is a lock that comes out, allowing you to unplug the harness.

    Thanks Steelefortess. Happen to have a diagram of which wire is + or -? I was able to pop the plug off and open it up. So I might be able to reuse it. If I hook up the wires incorrectly my worry is the airbag will trigger. However in my research it should only give a warning light that something is wrong. But I don’t want to take that chance.

    not trying to add to the hurt here, and maybe you already know this;
    Dealers (and most shops) will not repair airbag wiring (or components) and only replace with new. Therefor damage you can't fix, can get very expensive, very quick. This looks simple, not trying to scare you,, just warning you, so you are very careful not to do any more damage.

    Unfortunately, I don't have the diagram.

    However, I did stick my phone in the passenger footwell and took the picture below. This photo is from below looking up, the top of the photo is toward the front of the truck (the firewall).

    YES!! Steelfortress for the win. You are a life saver. I really appreciate the effort and helping me out. I had a feeling it was wired this way. Going out there right now to hook it up. Wish me luck.

    Best of luck! Make sure your battery is disconnected while you do this.

    Success! I let the battery sit disconnected for 30 minutes. I had a new plug with wires from Amazon already so I soldered them to the two wires as shown in steelfortess’s picture. The red being on the left. (If looking at the back of the plug, male side down). Heat shrinked sleeves and buttoned it back up. Connected the battery and started it up. The warning airbag light is off! Good to go.

    Hello, I have the same problem, the same wires of the Airbag ripped off like that. I went to the dealer and they told that the total amount to fix that was going to be more than $6,000.00 I don't to spend that kind of money. I would like to how did you do it and if it working great without any problems or Anything. I'll be so grateful if someone help me with this problem! Thank you guys for having the time to read this

    I just did the same thing on my Tacoma when installing a remote starter. cosborne how did you find a new plug to purchase? I can't seem to find anything. I may just be searching the wrong terms...

    EDIT: I finally found the right part. The search term to use is "Airbag Clock Spring Plug". This is the one I purchased and it worked like a charm:

    I popped the green wire out installing my 2wd low mod. Not much slack in that wire at all. Seems designed to fail. I purchased the above linked Amazon clock spring plug and it is the perfect fix! No more airbag light. Thanks fellas!!

    Use proper butt connectors at least. Twisting wires together might be why light is still on.
